Ice / Cold Corruptor

Ok, ive played the game for quite a bit and i thought i'd give corruptor a blast, seems really fun so far. (Level 14 upto now) I usually play Brutes, but want to play something diffrent for a change. Ive planned out my Ice / Cold corruptor. Kind of after a balanced build for PvE and PvP, heres what ive come up with;

Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.153

Glacier: Level 50 Mutation Corruptor
Primary Power Set: Ice Blast
Secondary Power Set: Cold Domination
Power Pool: Fitness
Power Pool: Leaping
Power Pool: Leadership
Power Pool: Teleportation
Ancillary Pool: Leviathan Mastery

Villain Profile:
Level 1: Ice Blast -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(5), Dmg-I(9), Dmg-I(13), Dmg-I(25), RechRdx-I(27)
Level 1: Infrigidate -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(7), Acc-I(7), DefDeb-I(13), DefDeb-I(15), DefDeb-I(31)
Level 2: Ice Shield -- DefBuff-I(A), DefBuff-I(3), DefBuff-I(3)
Level 4: Ice Bolt -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(5), Dmg-I(9), Dmg-I(15), Dmg-I(21), RechRdx-I(29)
Level 6: Swift -- Run-I(A)
Level 8: Combat Jumping -- EndRdx-I(A)
Level 10: Glacial Shield -- DefBuff-I(A), DefBuff-I(11), DefBuff-I(11)
Level 12: Assault -- EndRdx-I(A), EndRdx-I(39)
Level 14: Super Jump -- EndRdx-I(A), Jump-I(40)
Level 16: Aim -- RechRdx-I(A), RechRdx-I(17), RechRdx-I(17)
Level 18: Bitter Ice Blast -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(19), Dmg-I(19), Dmg-I(21), Dmg-I(25), RechRdx-I(27)
Level 20: Health -- Heal-I(A), Heal-I(31), Heal-I(31)
Level 22: Stamina -- EndMod-I(A), EndMod-I(23), EndMod-I(23)
Level 24: Acrobatics -- EndRdx-I(A), EndRdx-I(40)
Level 26: Tactics -- EndRdx-I(A), EndRdx-I(39)
Level 28: Benumb -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(29)
Level 30: Teleport Foe -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(34), Range-I(36), Range-I(40)
Level 32: Blizzard -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(33), Dmg-I(33), Dmg-I(33), Dmg-I(34), RechRdx-I(34)
Level 35: Sleet -- DefDeb-I(A), DefDeb-I(36), DefDeb-I(36), RechRdx-I(37), RechRdx-I(37), RechRdx-I(37)
Level 38: Heat Loss -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(39), RechRdx-I(43), RechRdx-I(46), RechRdx-I(46)
Level 41: Shark Skin -- EndRdx-I(A), EndRdx-I(42), ResDam-I(42), ResDam-I(42), ResDam-I(43)
Level 44: Ice Storm -- Slow-I(A), Slow-I(45), Slow-I(45), RechRdx-I(45), RechRdx-I(46)
Level 47: Arctic Fog -- EndRdx-I(A), EndRdx-I(48), ResDam-I(48), ResDam-I(48), ResDam-I(50)
Level 49: Vengeance -- DefBuff-I(A), DefBuff-I(50), DefBuff-I(50)
------------
Level 1: Brawl -- Acc-I(A)
Level 1: Sprint -- Run-I(A), Run-I(43)
Level 1: Scourge
Level 2: Rest -- RechRdx-I(A)

As you can see, picked up Superjump & Acrobatics. (I personally dislike other TP's) TP Foe seemed ideal for battles in RV, place all the Location AoE's (except Blizzard) debuff then run around annoyingly in a circle while shooting ice. I dont know if thats a valid tactic or what, sprint slotted the way it is incase of -Jump powers, so i'd still have a slight chance of outrunning whomevers chasing.

Well i dont know in all, thats why i'm posting in the corruptor forum, any tips, the build any good? For PvE and PvP. Thanks in advance.

Ice/cold is very nice to play.

I see you tried to make it quite a PvP build with assault+tactics early on and the slotting focussed on -def and the slows in icestorm.

<ul type="square">[*]For PvE leadership is unneccesary especially because of infrigidate (-def) and sleet post 35 (-def and -resis) and not even considering when slotted with IO sets which can be boosting accu significantly. Ice/cold is a really endheavy build and I doubt you have the stamina to run the toggles- also seeing that you haven't slotted for end redux at all...
[*]Ice storm is very late at 44. It's great in itself and works a superb treat in combo with sleet (and blizzard). I'd get it earlier in favour of the leadership powers taking those not before lvl 40+ for RV (if needed at all) or maybe at WB lvl if you really want it. Stick to the slows for PvP, but for PvE put in 3 dam instead.
[*]TP foe ....hmmm not seeing it being very useful, you should be slowing them so much they are going nowhere really and then there's mace mastery...
[*]Arctig fog is really nice. Try it, you'll like it.
[*]Try getting hasten in your build; you got quite a few slow recharging powers like epic powers /icestorm/ sleet/ benumb/ heat loss/ blizzard and also for infrigidate to slap it easier on multiple targets (in PvP) too. Hell it's good for everything! Then you are only one powerpick away from SS which is great as second travel in PvP. (and in PvE it stacks to invis in combination with arctic fog)[/list]

As far as slotting goes the (3) def debuffs in sleet are pretty redundant as the debuff is great out of the box and you got infrig to top it of. Slows would be better for locking them in place -and not even this is needed really for PvE.

Heat loss defo wants at least 1 end mod (2 even better) for PvE and for PvP you don't wanna go without less then 2 of those.
Benumb wants rechr (3 pref) as it's got a long recharge.

I'd really recommend using mid's herobuilder and think up some nice IO sets slotting.
Would defo improve things a lot

Thanks for the insight Blue Note, some definate good tips there. Been using mids, but havent tweaked the build to slot sets yet, good to see how to slot some powers though from yourself.

TP Foe does seem a waste of power, and Hasten will probably benefit alot better.

Definatly going to make some changes now, thanks

Good to see someone else testing the cold water...come on in, it's great

This was and still is my first lvl50 on CoV and i still find it a joy to play....my build below is what i've just respec'd into with RSFs and teaming so opted for Leadership instead of PPPs and from what i've used of it so far, it only suffers End problems when solo'in. I do very little PvP but from what i have done, it faired well.

Level 1: Sprint -- Empty(A)
Level 1: Scourge
Level 2: Rest -- Empty(A)

I would've liked to have stuck 2Acc in all my blasts, but its such an End heavy set i just couldn't live without some Endrdx in the attacks and orignally I had Frostwork at lvl30 and Glacial Sheild at lvl44...and upon typing this, just realised 'Why didn't i keep it that way'

As Blue Note said, try to get Hasten into the build...yeah, it ruins and concept you might be using...but the DeBuffs are so good you wanna have them back asap.

I can't pass up this chance to say...BLIZZARD ROCKS! It is without a shadow of a doubt, the best nuke in the game....yeah, its drains all End, but to me thats its only downfall...it's not capped by targets, so if its within range it'll hit, it knocksdown, it slows and when teamed with Ice Storm, Sleet and Heatloss...you got a lot of defeated enemies.

Everyones gunna slot differently, but thats the beauty of this game....but you'll love the sets.

'Shameless plug time'- Check out my guide at the bottom for an overview of the powers

Level 44: Bitter Freeze Ray -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(45), Hold-I(45), Hold-I(45), Hold-I(46)
Level 47: Web Cocoon -- Acc-I(A), Acc-I(48), Hold-I(48), Hold-I(48), Hold-I(50)
Level 49: Frostwork -- Heal-I(A), Heal-I(50)
------------
Level 1: Brawl -- Acc-I(A)
Level 1: Sprint -- Run-I(A)
Level 1: Scourge
Level 2: Rest -- RechRdx-I(A)

A few things im confused about though the powers like Sleet, Ice Storm, Heat Loss, Benumb I assume they need ACC Enhancements to hit? Heatloss and Benumb i can understand if they do, but a Location AoE needs ACC enhancements? Just a little confused about that.

Oh and in that build i thought i'd compliment the DEF side more than RES. (Thus going Black Scorpion as patron, and for the web Cocoon too.) The final stats end up like this.

Seems pretty nifty for a squishy, and ofc set bonuses' etc arent tallied up yet. Oh and Frostwork as the last power so i can be useful in group PvE too.

Oh nice to see another build Chin.

I dont have any idea how to slot Holds and LocAoE's but from being a Brute for 18 month it seems that the stacking gets past the shield, so if you sacrife some Holds for Rech, that'll work?

I have been told Blizzard is evil hehe, cant wait.

Posted

Location AoEs like Blizzard, Ice Storm and Sleet do take Accy but it isn't worth it, they do so many ticks of damage that you wouldn't notice misses...slot Blizzard and Ice Storm 3Dam and then if you get slots 3Rchrg, as for Sleet just slot it for 3Rchrg as its mainly use for a -Res patch with Knockdown...so you want that back for every mob.

If your going to take the holds, best to take Freeze Ray...its the same mag hold as Bitter Freeze Ray, but its quicker recharge and faster animation, BFR looks so damn cool, but it leaves you rooted for 4 secs...and if you play to PvP, that spells death. Also for survival purposes try to get freeze ray in as early as poss...can't count how many times that saved my life.

Rule of thumb for slotting holds are generally 2Acc, 2Hld, 2Rchrg...this'll bring freeze ray back in about 6secs.

Lastly...if you can bring Frostwork forward, do it...its an awesome buff, increases the targets health by about 40%...give that to a Brute and they're laughing, prehaps swap Glacier Shield for Frostwork, then bring Glacier shield forward to 41 and start the PPPs from 44...it'll require a rework of slots in the later part, but should be better...wish i had taken Frostwork sooner, and might use a respec just for that.

If you want a look at how the Location AoEs and DeBuffs work, i'll be happy to give you a run through the powers...looks like your in E.V.I.L (i'm guessing) and we're coalitioned with you (Darklords of the Underworld) so that'll make setting something up easier.

Hey Echo! Look forward to teaming with your corrupter again sometime. That said, 2 comments:

1: My only comment in regard to your build is that I'd take Blizzard a lot earlier. It's one of my favorites on my Fire/Cold corrupter on defiant (may he rest in peace) and while it will bring you a bit of aggro if you're not careful, it literally makes the enemies retarded and pretty much just stand there waiting to get shot in the face. Even better, it only gets worse with IO sets. (The Chance for damage proc in Blizzard makes my brain explode with its awesomeness) Which brings me to point #2:

Congrats, you've grabbed one of THE builds for stacking Slow IO's. While they're not as flexible as a lot of the other categories, almost ALL your Ice Blast powers take Slow Movement Enhancements. If I were you, I'd choose a couple IO sets and start collecting. You'll be able to easily reach the 5x IO stacking ceiling, and still have room for more IO sets. You haven't even taken all the slow movement powers available to you and you can still easily get a set bonus of 30+ % to all your slow powers if you wanted to. And that's with you skipping oodles of Ice Blast powers that would let you stack even more.
(Keep in mind that number is much more realistic than most IO Set dream builds. You only need 3 of any slow set to get the global Slow bonus from it, which means
a) you're free to take the "common" recipes in the set and let the other kids squabble over the expensive ones and
b)assuming you six slot your slow power, that means you can put 3 of one set and 3 of another in there.

I made an Ice/Traps character built on this concept...while I'm taking more slow powers than I need, each one lets me exponentially increase the usefulness of the others.

Alright, I'm done. It's out of my system. I just really like Ice sets and what they can pull off with IO's.

Build looks improved now Echo.

A few things i'd like to add:

I agree with Chin. It's really worth moving frostwork earlier on (and try squeeze in a 3rd heal). It's an excellent buff, that would add a lot to team play, both PvE as well as PvP.

Can drop the 3rd accu in infrig

Icestorm, sleet, heat loss: 3 rech pls

Arctic fog has a low def value, so the def enhance are a waste of slots imo. It fares better with res enhance (useful against most common PvP types: ice/fire/nrg) or use the slots elsewhere.

Think about taking web envelope from mace. Having an AoE immob is very sweet to have. Keeps the mobs inside your LBAoE's, especially considering Icestorm has a 'scatter' effect which makes the mobs trying to run out of it (slowly though ). And in PvP you really want it for the -fly and -jump on top of web cocoon.

Personally i'd drop BIB and take freeze ray. Freeze ray is a much better hold (2 accu/2hold/1 or 2 rechg) and I advice to take it asap as it's a life saver and move glacial shield to the back, if taking it that all. Personally i'd rather pick ss (remember in PvE it stacks to invis wit SS?) or the earlier mentioned web envelope.

And last but bot least: blizzard doesn't need accu really. Maybe put in one if you want, but you can make well do without any as it has enhanced base accu out of the box being a nuke and you'll be slapping it over the sleet anyway. Just pop a yellow when using TEH BLIZ.

Enjoy it mate. It's a very adorable combo to play.

P.S Ohgodtherats, blizzard is a tier 9 primary power, so it's not available before lvl 32

D'oh. Blizzard, Artic Fog, Snowstorm....they all blur together.
I was talking about the level 4 power, Snowstorm from Cold Domination.

Ok ive tweaked the build a little more, thanks alot for the advice on the build. I probably wont be thinking about sets on this char, simply dont have the cash. Level 45 IO's will be what i'd be going with at the end (Which still cost my other char about 30mill) level 50's just are not practical for me.

Level 2: Rest -- RechRdx-I(A)

Took the advice on Frostwork, moved it from 49 to 30, but swapping it for Hasten, Everything below 30 (From how i see it) is pretty much essential to my gamestyle. Stamina, Acrobatics, Health, and a few simple chain attacks.

Ice Storm and Sleet only 2 Recharge, the third recharge made 3.5 seconds so i (Using level 45 IO's) put in an enhancement of a diffrent type, DEF debuff in Sleet and Slows in Ice Storm. The recharge of them two powers is 33.4 seconds in all.

I slotted the holds correctly while i was at it, definatly seems like the right slotting now, changed Artic Fog to RES. Switched Aim with Freeze Ray (Which used to be bitter Freeze Ray which i specced out of.) Blizzard, Heatloss and Benumb all got 3 recharge in them.

Happy with how this looks now, seems balanced for PVP and PVE, thanks for the advice and info.

Oh Chin i'm not actually in that E.V.I.L Asin Max Khaos and Co. The group im in is a Roleplay group its EVIL for short, actually European Villianous Immorality League, in the game. I know its a mouthful, its generally called 'The Immorality League' or 'EVIL' heh.

OMG, i didnt even notice snowstorm was lacking! It's a lovely power, but not vital. I'd not leave it out, but fair arguments can be made not to take it. But PvP wise its absolutely great!

Aye, one of the good aspects. To stack more slow and the big -recharge being the others
