Can only build in one "direction"?

Hmm, I've been enjoying base building but my enjoyment has been somewhat spoiled by the recent discovery that you can't build "backwards". What I mean is, you seem to be able to add new rooms only one way round the square. I originally had an oversight room on one side of the secret entrance room, and a teleporter room on the other side; gradually as the base grew I added more rooms round the sides of the square starting from the teleporter room side; at one point I decided it was time to let the oversight room go; but then when I wanted to add a workshop where the oversight room used to be, I couldn't add a room there. I can only keep adding rooms in the one (anti-clockwise) direction.

Very annoying. I'm posting this in the probably vain hope that someone knows a way around this (i.e. it seems to be un-get-roundable but you never know).

Never encountered this problem myself. The only thing I can think is that sometimes if you have anything in a square that the doorway connects to, it won't permit you to place the room. Also if you've run out of space you can re-jig the space in which you're working by going to "Upgrade Plot" option, and shifting the layout of the base.

Is removing the oversight breaking the continuity of your base?

What i mean by that is are there 2 groups of room without a connecting room , if you remove the oversight room?

If so it wont let you do it, your secret entrance room needs to be accessable from all rooms in the base without a gap.

As long as all the rooms are left connected, you can remove rooms. Can you add a doorway somewhere, and then remove the Oversight Room?

Also, if the base is still small enough, choose the "Upgrade Plot", pick the one you currently have, and you can move the base so you have space on the other side. (eg; if your base is 5x8 you can shift it within the 8x8 standard).

Doh! That was it, there was a pesky little wall light I'd forgotten about on that side wall. Thanks for that (and thanks for the other little tipettes guys).

indeed... the editer is extreemly fussy about the doorway... both in where IT wants it to be and the SPACE in the ajoining room it needs

IT wants to place the door way in point X, it can't be put there because of decorations or what ever in te ajoining room. Next to it, would be a valid doorway location as it was cleared for such... but noooo... point X is the only possible point when placing a room... after that you can relocate it to next to is, but not when placing.

Once a doorway has been placed, you can 'block' it up to a point, which gives some liberties. BUT! If you remove the room, and try to place it again... you won't be able to until you clear the area a whole lot more.

*sigh* it's fun fiddling with bases, just a shame we have such a crude system for it.
