SS/EA or SS/Elec and other Brute questions...

I don't have an EA brute (although I do have an EA stalker), but EA isn't considered too good due to it's low defence. I remember looking at Dr Rock's planner one time and discovering my stalker had only slightly more defence than a blaster. Elec, on the other hand, has decent resists, some good utility powers like Lightning Reflexes, and a really good tier 9 power. Of your two choices, I'd go /elec.
As for fury, no, a taunt aura is nice but not necessary, but some sort of AoE attack would probably help with gaining aggro. As far as the attacks are concerned, it's best to take a couple of quick recharging powers to build up fury, before unleashing your slow big hitter. Brawl is good for this.

*cough* EA's Defence is quite good actually, thats the first point and a stalkers is even better than a brutes. Have both Stalker and Brute /EA so have experiance of both, the planner must be goosed mate.
But, I would not think of taking SS with EA myself, as the lovely power Rage has one real negative side effect for a time when it wears off, namely -20% Def, so you go from nearly 30% (With CJ, EC and KS on a brute) to nearly 10% Def in one swoop, and if your fighting, and have no def insp you're going to get hit an aweful lot more.
Between the two, i'd go /Elec for SS myself.

As usual, altisis has struck again and now that I seem to have figured out that Brutes may well be what I hoped Tanks would be, I think Id like to try one out and get down with the SMASH action. I do have a couple of questions though if people would be kind enough to help.
I am pretty much sold on Super Strength for my primary but Im tossing up between Energy Aura and Electric Aura. Neither have a heal as far as Im aware so Aid Self is a must but is there much between the two of them? From reading the boards Elec seems to be very popular whereas EA is not so favoured. What are the comparative benefits of the two?
I figure that loving your Brute means loving your Fury bar but I just want to clarify how it works and what tactics to run with it. From what Ive read, Fury increases from both enemy attacks and your own attacks. Does this make a taunt aura a necessity? As it builds with each of my own strikes, does this mean that its wise to pick faster, less damaging attacks over heavier, slower recharging attacks?
Any other advice gratefully received.
