Weave or not to Weave.. that is the question!
I vote no for a few reasons:
1- You're not picking Rock Armor, so you're not thinking of stacking its defence with Weave and play out of Granite mode.
2- Tough+Granite will give you a ridiculous amount of resistance. The tiny defence bonus will be nearly useless.
3- Weave is end heavy and the defence bonus is [censored]. Running Granite+Tough+Rooted+MudPots+Weave will drain your End after a short attack chain. It's not even worth the slots you got to waste to make it an OK power.

What would you recomend instead?
FALSE FICTION'S AVATAR IS SO CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :)
I would suggest Provoke for sure, I would also go for body Epic set, focussed accuracy is a very useful set since you tank higher lvl mobs usually in Granite.
Taunt and provoke plus hasten is a must.
In granite you will notice all your powers stay little dots on your tray for quite some time.
Having both taunt and provoke will give you lots of tools to keep aggro. Hasten will make sure they are up often. Most of the time you will not even use your attacks, just taunt and provoke.
Also Rock Armour plus minerals is needed for rikti psi bosses and carnie bosses, not to mention psi clocks. Granite is so tissue paperish its not even there for those so no point using it.
@Boerewors
Firstly Tough is pointless for a granite tank. Stone Skin with 1 slot gives you enough to cap your S/L resistance. Anything over the 90% cap is wasted because even -res debuffs don't actually take your resistance off, they multiply up damage. So you only need Stone Skin or Tough if you're going to stay in granite the whole time.
Tough and Weave do stack pretty well against the other shields, so if you are planning on using the basic ones the fighting pool still might be worth picking up.
Weave adds 7.8 defence. in granite this puts you from 28 to 36, meaning that you last about 30% longer unless def debuffs or to hits are present.
I don't think CJ works with Granite or rooted.
If you're going to be tanking higher levels, I'd definitely put 3 taunts in Mud Pots. I'd also be tempted to pick up focussed Accuracy or Tactics. If you get manuevers too, it will improve your survivability a little bit ( 10-15% ).
Most granites 3 slot swift.

How about this build then...

Thank you! Meewwww
That final build seems fine (didn't check the slots). I wouldn't go for provoke tho. Granite's -rech is not THAT huge. 3Rech3TaunDur on Taunt + Mudpots will work just fine. Go for Superspeed instead of Provoke. At least you'll be able to travel around on laggy days (or even use it for PvP).

I must urge you to keep provoke. So many times a blaster or kheld would scatter enemies and taunt is only a cone "attack". With provoke I can taunt one group in one direction and click on a mob which is not in that taunt area and provoke them.
Really , provoke is a great tool. I have also found that even 3 taunt and 3 acc slotted, mud pots does not deliver the taunt quality it should. As I said, your attacks are really bad for holding aggro, the gauntlet factor is much reduced due to granite.
As for getting around, TP is a great tool and I have found really creative uses for it.
I would also slot rooted 3 for healing ASAP and 1 end red later.
@Boerewors
Hi,
I was wondering, what is the best slotting for weave? I am unsure if I should add a 2nd end reducer or leave it as just 1? (3 slot def buff is a given).
Tough does make a difference with granite. Even if granite is 3 slotted with res. Get tough. Its worth it.
Whether you slot end reducers and how much depends on your build and playstyle.
Toggles cost less than attacks.
Shields cost about 0.16-0.25 eps, tough and weave cost 0.3ish, damage auras cost about 0.5. Check nofuture.org.uk for specifics.
I use the rule of thumb each an unslotted attack, if used when it recharges, uses 1 eps ( normally they vary from 0.7-1.2 ). Adding recharge multiplies this by 1.33, adding a end red cancels that out. If you have hasten it increases too.
End reducers in attacks are about 2-4 times as effective as end reducers in toggles. So if you have an attack you use regularly that isn't 6 slotted, you are almost always better off slotting it for an end reducer instead of the toggles.
However as damage is important, I tend to have attacks slotted 1xACC,3xDAM,1xEND,1xRCG on a complete build which means that I have to start slotting end reducers into my shields. Golden Golem, for instance, has 2 end reducers in all toggles ( including Tough and Weave ) and at least 1 in all attacks. I think some of his attacks have 2.

For a Tank?
What difference exactly?
Stone skin + Granite will cap smashing and lethal resistance by themselves. Running tough at the same time would be a waste of end.
Heya all!
Im going for a stone/fire meat shield build with my tank when i respec at 32, below is my build and my main concern is weave, whether i get it or not. Is it worth the extra def? Or should i opt for something like CJ (which would mean dropping tough aswell) or an extra attack?
