Tarot - The Magician
:O
Very sweet colours!
Nothing negative to say about this here, it's gorgeous!
(well except the hand on the bottom left - but I know, you know...)
Thumbs up for the grey smoking kitten!
yeah, we're pretending the hand in the bottom left doesn't exist for the purposes of this exercise, XD.
Also, nail varnish remover for the win. Even if it smells.

I sucked at Art at school, though I did end up in three dimensional studies when I'd applied for two dimensional. Oh well,

The crystal ball at the center is a very blank spot on a coloured picture. Maybe adding some shading to it ?
Same for the moon crescent in background but being not a prominent feature of the pic, it has less impact (to me at least)
I get what you're talking about, but the ball is supposed to be luminescent like a pearl lightbulb. Ergo, you see no features. I could have done the surrounding glow better to make that more apparent, but my white pencil is about the size of two knuckles of my finger. X)
As for the moon, it's not meant to be prominant. It would and should be overshadowed by the aurora, as that is a reaction against the atmosphere and is therefore closer.

It's lovely - has a real medieval style to it, definitely something which wouldn't look out of place in a mythology book (meaning all this to be complimentary ). The eyes are breathtaking, are they glowing?
The aurora too, it's funny, the shape looks so simple to do, but it most certainly isn't! Beautiful picture!

I bet you lie!!
Anyway, Very nice work. I've always liked the tarot cards since you did the first one, which is why you got my creative genius nomination

I know the moon isn't meant to be prominent (what I said indeed) but it's still a blank spot in a coloured picture.
The ball and the moon should have something else than "plain white".
Only my advice.
FaeryFire has a good point.
But because you are using the tarot card base (example - check card No18), you can get away with it via artistic license...
the moon is actually coloured. Just with extremely pale blue that doesn't show very well. I could go in with some greys, but it loses it's luminosity.
And as for Art as School, I tell no lies. Sucked at it big time. I'm not a 'natural' artist at all, I need someone to show me how to do things, how to use the tools to get a desired effect. I don't know about other schools, but none of the teachers at mine were the least bit interested in showing you *how* to do something. Just thrusting a bit of clay or some paints at you and saying 'make something'. Yes, it's fine for the 'free your mind' crowd who already KNOW how to use the materials and the tools, but not so hot for those of us who come at it fresh. Mind you, I've also been more inclined to draw actual things, like fruit bowls, lamps, sandwiches, dogs, towels on a rail, etc. than painting a ziggly blue line down a canvas with a splash of black and standing back and going 'that's my soul'. I'm not even kidding, one guy the other class got an 'A' for that. I sure as hell hope his evaluation was a masterpiece because his final art piece sucked.
My evaluation rocked, but my final piece sucked too. I don't even remember what it was, but I remember it sucking. I went on about samurais and ****** horsemen in it.
ANYWAY, that was entirely off the subject, which is the luminosity effect/versus empty space debate.
personally, I like the crystal ball like that, but I do see Faery's point and I like to hear this kind of thing.

The Magician
Representing Action, Concentration, Power and Conscious Awareness. Winter's Knight, probably my best friend offline and former house-mate, might seem very chilled out, but tends to be on the ball. One of the best tanks I know and my ideal ice-tank.
Trust me, in real life, her player is a cryomaniac and has frozen pretty much everything that comes in his path. Those things he doesn't set on fire, of course. XD
