PVP event idea: A show of force.

Having attended the recent Union Hamidon raid, I really enjoyed the large scale teamwork that took place and was thinking of an event that would allow players of Heroes and Villians, of all security levels, to enjoy a large scale battle scenario.

PVP Event: A Show of Force.

A show of force is a three round event consisting of battles in the main PVP zones of the CoX game.

3 zones are chosen ( such as Recluses Victory, Sirens Call and Warburg where there are overall Hero / Villain win situations ) for Heroes and Villians to fight over.

Each zone win counts as a point and its a good old best out of 3.

Now the fun part comes in which zone do you attack? do you mass attack RV to secure a win in that area leaving other zones less manned or do you take your 50 to a capped zone to try and give your friends some needed support in those areas?

Would be interested to hear some feedback on the idea!!!

How would you decide who won each zone? I like the sound of large battles but i don't think there are enough players to fight over 3 zones. One side might cover 2 and hope for the best. But they could still be out numbered. 3 zones at once would be less laggy but it depends on the amount of interest.

well in recluses victory there are the temporal anchors to fight over and there is a defined hero / villain win scenario. There is the missile launch in Warburg and if memory serves there is a third one to fight over in sirens or bloody bay!

The idea being which zone level do you side with, do you play as hero or villain etc...

It means that the event is open to everyone, as a few of our recent events have been high level only ( bring on the next hami raid, cant wait ) and I thought this would be a good way to involve everyone, whatever their security level

Sirens call and Recluses Victory have the counters for hero/villain control. For Bloody bay and Warburg its more difficult but I guess success could be measured from whose base was under siege..

I think you would have to have a time window for the event. Who ever took control of RV the most is easy as the two sides can fight over pillboxes. Warburg would have to be which ever side launched the most Rockets in the time slot. Siren's Call is the most difficult as it might start off with one side having the advantage, it takes alot longer than Rv to take control too. From past experience one side is usually more interested in PvP and the other is doing hotspots/PvE. Large chance of getting debt too. I'd say you need someone counting how many times each side won a hotspot. Then add up the scores after 2 or 3 hours.

that could work, just trying to think of events that everyone can take part in and enjoy

This is a good idea.To make this work you could follow this:

Bloody Bay is too big and hard to check who is winning in the zone.Instead focus on RV and Sirens.

-Create a judging comittee consisting of 1 hero 1 villain that communicate over global channel and are responsible for monitoring the zone for who is winning

-Use 2 hour time windows for securing the zone.

-Have the 2 judges announce in 15 min intervals the progress of the even over request channel within the zone and possibly over a global channel

-Consider the option of organising the event on test server so all 4 servers can participate

-Consider asking Bridger's support in term of some prizes maybe

Good luck with it

I worked on the 3 zone idea to have players from all level ranges involved and make it also best out of 3. Do you guys have any ideas how we could declare a winning side in the event of heroes winning one and villians winning the other?

I'll definately give bridger a shout at some point tonight, I'm glad you guys like the idea!!!

Well determining victory in RV and SC is easy since the counters can tell you all you need to know.BB is another thing tho and it seems pretty hard to judge this unless the the 2 judges chase the action around with the danger of getting killed themselves.

Just do it in the arena on test and have Union Vs Defiant 16v16 20min matchs. Have it at 3 lvl ranges so you still have best of 3. Be a lot more simple for you to do.

I thought using the zones would be more fun as there is.

A: something to do other than fight head on.
B: more tactical options regarding HOW each side can win.
C: allows more people to be involved

Good luck anyway with the event

sensible suggestions and alterations are always welcome though. my basis for the event was a huge "show of force" ( hence the name ) by heroes and villains in almost a mini war!

Sounds like fun. I've thought of a way the Warburg one could be won, whichever side gets each warburg rocket and uses them all in a specific place so the judges can see they have them, if they were a hero or villain then that side wins.

I would take part in this definatly, but if this on the test I may be spoilt for choice.. Blaster, Tank, Mastermind or Brute.. Hmm..

I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.

I'm gonna take a lookie in Warburg later to remind myself just how the rocket's work for this, this could be a good laugh!
