Portal Question

Is there any chance that the exit direction of a portal can be changed and displayed in the editor? I only have a small supergroup base and as such I have the entrance room only.

I was trying to cut down on space so I could add a few small details to the room so moved the portal into a corner.

What would be useful though is a way to pick what direction you face when you enter the base, as no amount of turning the portal or moving it gives me a fixed entrance direction and thus I always end up facing a blank wall upon entering the base!!!

That would need to go to suggestions forum i guess, no chance at the moment to do that :S

Well, not knowing if there was a way to choose the exit direction already, thought it best to be a base question first, suggestion later if there isnt

didnt want to post in suggestions only to have someone say "aah just do this" lol

When you say alter the direction do you mean the destination or the actual position of the blue cylinder glowing thing you click on to leave's position within the room?

I'm guessing he means the destination within the base.. and specifically your "facing".

We had the same thing in our villains base, generally no matter where/how you came into the base, you ended up facing the corner in the entry room like a naughy villain (perhaps appropriate ).

I wonder if it's related to the facing you had on entering the base (which way you face when you click the base portal in the zone).

Tho it seems that I always face the same way when I use base teleport pads to get to a zone, so it must be setable.

It seems to be completely random. It would be nice to have a default "pointing direction" which could be chosen in base design mode.

exactly as keltra put it - a default pointing direction!!!

Yes im with you now ....sorry lost the plot there a minute, anyway we too all enter facing the corner like bad villains too

I think there indeed is a default facing direction (or more likely, the portal has a 'face' and game will align entering players according to this). However i dont think we can affect it. You could try moving the portal and try to rotate it (the morning has frozen all my brain functions i cant rememeber how to rotate in base editor o.O)

No matter how you rotate it, you always end up facing the wrong direction from time to time.

Suggestion posted on the french boards. Two can't harm.

Have you tried simply moving the portal to the corner-most tile of the room? You can centre it within the tile to avoid removing the skirting board area of that corner, and as far as I've experienced it's always caused me to enter the base facing one of two correct directions. Can't recall ever entering looking at a wall.

Just don't move it too close to any deco items.. I remember getting stuck in something when I tried to put items near the portal.

I experimented with this a little during the Halloween event (dropping off insps to the base storage) and it seemed that it depends on which direction you come to a base portal from...the one I usually have problems with is the Talos portal, exiting my base I often end up in/under the bus stop because of the orientation of the portal in my base.

If you walk around the portal you use to enter the base, you will find yourself on the opposite side of the portal when you enter the base, if that makes sense?

i.e. if you enter the base from the west side of a base portal ->[] you will enter the base on one side of the entrance portal, but if you are on the east side of a base portal when you click it []<- you will be on the other side of the entrance portal in the base.

Mind you, this could have been coincidence.....but I still get stuck under that blooming bus stop every now and again!

it would be really handy though if there was one exit direction that we could choose though

Much like when you choose Atlas Park as the starting hero point you always face towards Ms. Liberty even if you aren't directly in front of her.
