Defender superteam starting

Hello all!

Awhile back a few of us from The Ultimate Inferno SG decided to start a defender superteam; however, it kind of fizzled out because, well.... not really sure. But now we have decided to start up again.

1. BACKGROUND INFOfirst to the link that describes a superteam:

types and ideas for superteams:

We are going to create a tank mage group from that list which is explained their quite well--with some possible twiks considering i7 changes.
We currently have a core-group of approx. 4 for the ideal superteam and looking for at least 4 dedicated people that can fill out the 8 man team. However, we are not necessarily trying to get ONLY 8 people that can team fast together, but a SG to give a larger pool to draw from.

The official Battlemage teaming will take place on sunday evenings. The first taking place sept. 3 at 7pm BST.

Rules of membership:
1. Be a defender
2. Magic Origin
3. 'Battlemage' must be in your name. f.ex.: Battlemage Elea or Random Battlemage
4. Costume on a design decided by members
5. Membership in The Paragon Covenant of Battlemages SG
6. Power Sets -- before starting a Battlemage, especially in the initial start-up period, it will be necessary to coordinate which power sets members have to ensure the most effective superteam.

The last two points are not so much rules then a clear understanding while playing with The Battlemages:
--Leveling: So everyone stays as close as possible to the same levels to ensure workable teams, playing with ones mage alot outside of SG teams to lvl would be of course allowed but discouraged. Cases where new members want to 'catch-up' to the other members would of course be encouraged.
*Being exemp'd / sk'd to ensure a balanced team might be necessary.

--Teaming: Besides the weekly mage teaming, if members play at othertimes, they would be encourageed to team with other mages as much as possible even when being exemp'd/sk'd are necessary.

Interested? Then contact us to hear which power sets we currently need.

To get more information contact me @Cha'ron or @Dream Master and also go to The Ultimate Inferno SG forums (there is a section at the bottom for battlemages) at www.theultimateinferno.com where you can read the initial ideas and post if interested

I would be up for this, what server is it on and does it matter what power sets you pick as one of the threads on your forums suggested it might be.

Would a kin/elec defender be okay?

1st... sorry forgot to say: Its on Defiant server.

2nd: Sorry (again) havent put exact power sets on our SG forums yet. Still in the organizing phase with fellow member.

But for the perfect team we would shoot for (especially in the beginnig to get things going):

Primary set: 2xKin, 2xSonic, 2xForcefield, a rad and maybe an emp. (these we would like to stick to)

Secondary set: 2 of each: sonic, dark, rad, and elec. (due to debuffs; however optional)

Currently we have:
1. ff/elec
2. kin/elec
3. sonic/rad
4. kin/dark
5. rad/archery

So, we need for our ideal team:
6. ff/ ? (but no elec.)
7. sonic/ ? (but no elec.)
8. optional but perferrably a emp./ ? (but no elec.)

So, sry DeathDude... rather not have another kin/elec. unless you have your heart set on this build--then i can use another instead of my kin/elec. since I have a ff/sonic i just rolled.

Well, I was going to ask for something /archery, but that wasn't debuffing... I would've liked kin/archery, but there's already 2 kins.

A defender superteam without a Dark/ ? Madness I says, Madness!

Actually, would ya be okay If I went for a ff/archery?

I would be interested in signing up as a Sonic/Sonic.

Battlemage G'host

I will sign up on the BM forum.

Just got to our SG forums www.theultimateinferno.com, sign up as a member, then check out the Battlemage area. Dream Master is the prime contact for this especially regarding the best/needed power sets. Our next battlemage meeting is sunday the 10th at 7pm BST and I believe their planning on hitting the hollows so will need to be lvl 5 by that time.

With 8 maneuvers, 8 tactics and 8 assault running do you really need any primaries with +Def or -Def? Surely the team is way over the defender cap for Def just from slotted maneuvers. ((4.66% base x 1.60ish)x8)

Are those two FF's doing anything beyond providing a little status protection from dispersion bubble (which is already covered by the sonic's clarity)?

I thought the recent changes meant that capped defence was capped defence, regardless of the level of the mobs you faced? Or did I misunderstand the patch notes? (highly likely )

Actually, we're only making assault and tactics a must and not manuevers--depends on power slots available.

If you make maneuvers a must, you can eliminate any need for force fielders.

Well thats one power choice that you could eliminate from every member by just having one member of the team a Force fielder.

We currently have:

2xdark
1xforce
3xkin
2xsonic
1xemp
1xrad

Plus me and Cha'ron have some battlemage alts to fill in any gaps in the team.

We deviated from the original idea of:

2xff
2xson
4xrad

This was because it was quite restrictive and overkill in some places.

Now we allow all defender types, with just a couple rules on power selections and naming convention.

The members post in advance if they can attend and we arrange a team/s with the best mix of powers for the situation.

If any one is interested or would like to know more information then please go to:

[/ QUOTE ]I'm pretty sure 8*maneuvers clearly beats the +DEF from FF... If I were you I'd replace the FF with storm or TA, maybe even second rad.

We all know Force Fielders can do more than just +Def

We dont want to open that can of worms

More than +def? Sure, but the question is, are the rest of their abilities useful enough, in comparison to, say, storm?

Posted

Yes but how useful will any debuffing powers be (especially ancors) when you have 8 defenders all at max def, max res, max acc, max recharge and falcrumed twice, laying at least 2 nukes per mob?

I dont want to get to a point further on in the game where the only use of some of the debuffers is to lay an alpha strike, especially when ff can do that with pff

Having a couple darks is awesome and has already showed their worth, a couple rads im not so sure

Storm is a tricky set because we would need a good one, and not a storm that is too chaotic
