Advice on Inv/Mace Build
Slotting is pretty good apart from the empty in tough really which i am sure is a mistake. You say you are 29 so do you have aid self already and does it work alright? My super reflex can get interrupted with her aid self and she has more defense than you will ever have. I have to ask because id be more inclined to get the passives before med pool. The thought off me playing with aid self trying to use it when i should be scanning and looking to keep aggro of a defender that has absorb pain puts me off the idea. Id like to know if it works ok though.
The secondaries are very important to survivability i find. Your attacks are lacking powers with the secondary effects that would normally help me to do certain enemies for myself or atleast fight on better terms.
I could make my build more defensive but at the sacrifice of less offensiveness and so i have to fight for longer.
I have come up with a similar build in the past but without the med pool, I have a lot of faith in defenders and controllers which can be naive of me as one persons dark defender may not be played as or built as good as anothers. The other day i met one whose slots were empty!
oh and 1 dam res is good enough for unstoppable with your passives.

I have Aid Self slotted with 2 interupt/2 heal/2 recharge and I'm usually able to use it successfully even under heavy fire. In my experience Invincibility provides enough defense in a large group to enable you to use it (if not on the first attempt then on the second) and once the numbers have thinned down the rate of fire at you is lower so you're less likely to be interupted. I have both Aid Self and Tough in my build and I have pretty decent survivability. I don't have Weave (didn't think it gave enough bang for my buck) and I don't have all my passives so your build with all those included will have excellent survivability
The mace side of things seems fine - the disorient on whirling mace and the knockback on crowd control will add damage mitigation to increase your survivability further and will draw good aggro to you. All in all a very playable, effective and fun build. The only change I might make to it if it was my build would be to pick up one of the ancillary pool holds in place of one of the passives - they're very handy versus Malta.

Not tried aid self yet on my tanker but I do have it on various other alts who can use it while under DoT attacks so I should manage. Currently I have RPD and clobber in place of those and while clobber is useful it doesnt provide much survivability in big teams. Im gonna use my free respec from i7 at lvl 32 to get new enhances and respec into this build at the same time. My only worry with the build is how late the resist energies and elements are and whether they would be better sooner and other powers later.
The bonus you get on the resists isn't that great tbh.....if you picked other powers I doubt you'd miss em.
The Good:
Krazy Mary L50 Kinetic defender
Uniqua L31 PeaceBringer
Black Annis L24 Warshade
Krystal L18 Ice Blaster
The Bad:
Frenzi L34 SS/Inv Brute

I am so glad you pointed that, it is kind of here and there anyway with the more minor resists, good day playing a tanker, bad day playing a tanker, offense versus defense, what the team brings to the table, compensatable build plus buffs and a very reasonable use of playstyle combining secondaries a large amount of the time. id even go as far as you could sufficiently tank on passives alone with the right support (because i know so) but not for everyone I will say that the right support isnt always there.

The only passive I would drop would be RPD. The other passives provide 3/8 of my resistance to F/C/E/N.
IF I drop RPD it would be for a hold or conserve power.

At the moment i would be transfixed at putting uninterruptable powers before the interruptable as i do have faith in the defender ATs and controller ATs although some you might watch in action as your in the red for 10 seconds wishing you had a first rate blaster and not a second rate blasting defender however when it comes to sonic, forcefield and trick archery defenders you may actually be better off for it at times.
I had Raziels invuln tank herd +4 to his invuln on a mission with my trick archer "in a way" which allowed my trick archer to complete her role satisfactorily and he was totally and utterly completely 100% safe (i dont think any 1 type of defender is really all that ftw at least i hope not as i am playing all types as it is, so there is definately no need for me to even want to be biased).

1 agree with you shannon about playstyles and support as I have played this tank in a lot of different ways he is about 18 months old and through out that time have changed his build a lot and played in alot of different ways. An example of this is in i4 i tanked most of 5 levels with only unyielding running due to having a very good FF defender on the team. I have scranked for teams that needed it, I have herded maps for a fire blaster to annhilate. I have been the only damage dealer on a team before now and just waded into mob after mob thanks to a kin and empathy defender.
The build I have posted is after a lot of recent teaming and seeing tanks not surviving the aggro or not surviving/gathering it all myself. I have 2 inv/ tanks one at 27 and one at 29 both play completely differently. My Inv/Axe is a scranker who tanks where as my Inv/Mace will be at the other end of the spectrum. If I want to play an offensive tank then my Axe one will come out, I want this guy to be defensive so he may by surperfluous on some teams but a godsend on others.
After playing about with Dr Rocks AT comparison program I have been thinking about respecing my first ever tank who is still sat at lvl 29 into this build. Power order can be changed except for the first 20 lvls anything after can be altered. This is a PvE build although that is probably obvious.

The idea is for a defensive tank who can take a lot of damage and hold the aggro needed on a team. Range enhance in taunt is for AV's and GM's who are not a good idea to get close to. Attack choice is straight forward 2 AoE's for aggro management, 2 single target attacks for hitting bosses/gauntlet control. I dont like the look of any of the epics except maybe pyre but decided against it.
So opinions please.
