Build advice please
you DEFINITLEY DEFINITLEY want Spectral Terror earlier.
Thanks for that but can you elaborate on why this is so and when you would take it?
My plan was that the slows of the Storm set as well as the imobilises from Blind and flash would hold folks in place while the Phantom Army and The Phantasm splat em. Is this not viable?
First off...you're way too worried about endurance even though /Storm is a very end heavy + no accuracies??
Spectral Wounds should be 2 acc, 3 dmg and 1 rech if you have the slot.
Gale, you wont use this power much but put an acc or 2 in it instead of end red
Blind, your most important power and the only power apart from flash that sets up containment. Slot 2 acc, 2 rech, 2 hold dur.
Snow Storm, pretty end heavy. Slot 2 end reds and maybe 1 slow and maybe even 1 rech depending on your use.
Confuse, basically only need 1 or 2 acc and 1 confusion duration. Try this and see if you want more slots in depending on playstyle.
Flash, if you get this it should be slotted 2 acc, 2 rech, 2 hold durs.
Superior invis, 1 of 3 stealth powers in this combo. I would personally go with the steamy mist + super speed combo for invis and some really nice resistance to fire, cold and energy (steamy mist would be slotted 2 end reds, 3 dmg res. The defense is too small to slot for.)
If you still want to go with fly superior invis is probably the best choice. Slot with 2-3 end reds.
Freezing Rain, awesome power. Nice slow, does some knockdown and has about 30% dmg resistance debuff. Slot with 2-3 rech and 1 end red.
Phantom Army, staple power of the illusion set. Slot 3 rech, 3 dmg
Hurricane, biggest accuracy debuff in the game, slot 2 end reds, 3 tohit debuff.
Health, never ever 3 slot this on a squishy...simply not worth it. Stick with the default slot.
Hasten, 3 recharges wouldnt be all bad in here.
Thunder Clap, I would advice against this since it only stuns minions. If you still want to get it I would say slot it with 2 acc and a mix of recharges and dis durations.
Phantasm, end reds and recharges??? Slot it with 1-2 acc, 3 dmg.
Tornado, I love this power but would advice against with illusion because of the lack of immobs that negates knockback. It will knock mobs all over the place and probably aggro other mobs if you cant contain the mobs.
Lightning Storm, not worth slotting for end drain. Slot 3 dmg, 2 rech, 1 end red.
Ice Blast, slot 2 acc, 3 dmg, 1 rech
Hibernate, slot 3 rech + a combo of heals and end mods.
Ice Storm, 3 dmg, 2 rech, 1 end red.
Spectral Terror, take it earlier...its awesome. Stationary pet the keeps casting a cone fear. Get it, learn to use it, love it. Slot 1 acc, 1-2 fear dur

I have spectral terror with my illusion / storm and I dont really see the point most of the time. Fear doesnt set up containment, and the fear breaks if they're hit, so dont use it with the phantom army (they'll hit anything) or freezing rain... Its a really, really situational power that'll fill holes in illusion - but storm does that nicely anyway.
I would take thunderclap anyway. Yes, it only stuns minions, but the majority of the enemies you'll come across are minions. Ive never understood that as a reason for not taking it
I wouldn't slot blind for damage - better to go with accs there - its all very well that it does damage, but if you never hit it, it'll never do the damage. I use it as a setup tool for containment.
Drop the def buff enhances on superior invis - the buff is tiny. slot it for endreds only. I would 3slot it endred. And that gives a couple of slots for some other stuff. Like accuracies.
The recharge on decieve is quite good anyway iirc, not sure you need quite as many recharge slots on that...
And I would look at the slots in pretty much every power - your accuracy is gonna be terrible. I always find it frustrating to know that I COULD beat a mob if only I could hit them. And that realisation comes usually before you faceplant, so....

Yup, but will go back to being feared after they fire 1 shot.

Yeah, but given that the Phantasm uses energy torrent LOADS, and the PA dont care who they hit, and freezing rain, on an illusion / storm they get hit a lot. And spectral terror doesn't hold his own aggro, unlike the other pets, so it all goes on the caster.
Besides, with flash, blind, decieve and thunderclap, he's got lots of control options. I didn't say spectral terror was a bad power, just very situational
I only tend to use him as an extra option if there are a couple who arent arrested by the time freezing rain is gone.

I apologise as this has probably been mentioned before, however spectral terror can facilitate an exit from some very tricky situations! If you use it, it causes the enemies to become frightened and cower, giving you time to heal yourself and / or team, or retreat from the battleground.
Alternatively, you could use it to prepare a mob before using the 'flash' power - the perfect setup for 'fulcrum shift', then 'fireball' (from your ancillary power pool). This combination is the equivalent to a 'nova'-type power, ha ha ha!

Hey folks, thanks for some great advice there.
I confess that I do tend to obsess a little with endurance loss and probabaly overcompensate. I will have a careful rethink about the slotting.
Re Spectral Terror, I did not realise it was a pet like the Phantasm. To be honest tho, fear powers are not totally in keeping with the concept for this toon and so I doubt I will take it very much earlier.
