Have a look at the guides index in Player Guides. Few good threads of advice for stone tanks there and a good place to start (Khaine's guide is very good - lots of figures). Then if you have any specific questions you can come ask our sagely advice. 
The UK guides pretty much say all there is to say about Stone/*. I know Axe is good for high damage but not great mezz ability, MaxPowerz has the only Axe tank I know, and I think Zak was Stone/Axe.

Rock Eagle's Stone/Axe as was my now neglected Box. Which is still one of the best names going. 
My tank is stone/axe, I have now got GA and love it when I am tanking +3 mobs and rarley use it for +1's.
Axe is good for damage, slot them with at least 2 damage and 1 acc and with Whirling Axe 2 for KB, 2 for Acc so you can TP in to a mob and knock them all to the ground

Basically I have never got very far with a tank, I generally prefer scrappers, however now I have access to a lvl24 Kin/Dark defender for teaming with I have finally rolled Rock Walloper.
Can anyone either give me some tips on creating a good pre GA stone/axe or perhaps even a build.
