Stone/Fire - any tips?
Make a choice for yourself at 32 if you want perma-granite tanking or the mid-style. Specialy for perma-granite TP is a good travelpower, together with swift (slot that 3x speed).
Get rooted asap, gives a great regen-boost. Mudpots for the aggo-management. To be good allround tanker pre-32, taking the fighting pool is a good advice.

Roll an Invuln/Fire and enjoy the mobility
I have an inv/ss to enjoy the mobility with Actually part of the reason I thought I'd investigate Stone is because my tanking playstyle tends to have me standing pretty much in one place and busily taunting mobs to me anyway - I'm not much of a hopper-about when tanking.
Blazing Rock is now at 12, but I'm getting into this quandary about whether to go dual or perma.
To experienced stoners out there: just how viable is it to go up to 32 using only the combination of Stone Skin, Rock Armour, EE + Rooted + 3 slotted Health, and none of the other armours? Do mobs that use energy and elemental damage actually do enough damage with those forces to make it necessary to use Crystal and Brimstone at all? Because I'm thinking I might as well just pick lots of attacks (or experiement with pools) if the combo (plus a bit of luck and a few insps) is enough - after all, damage is itself mitigation, and if I can do enough damage from the fire attacks and AoEs I might as well pick them early, and pick all of them, with the added benefit that I will have a viable long "chain" while slowed in Granite (perhaps negating the need for Hasten?)
(The thing is it would be a real shame not to have any of the other armours because they look so cool, but my idea with this build is to be pretty aggressive anyway.)
I got me a lvl 43 SA/FM and I went up to granite with only rock,EE,Rooted and 3 slotted health without stoneskin and it was quite an easy experience.I didnt find that the energy and fire damage caused was enough to get my health down far enough to use EE. Most of the time i had more problems with the smash/lethal damage. I would also highly recommend that you get hasten as with all of my attacks 2 slotted for recharge and with hasten I still have to sometimes use brawl to fill an attack chain without standing there like a lemon when in granite.

When i was going upto 32 with my tanker, the time where a tanker still was a tanker and blappers didnt exsist (except Plight i think). I took basicly all defence i possibly could get, including the fighting pool. During that time, striga island was pretty new and highly populated so u need to good resist/defence versus anything if you wanted to tank-the-max. During that time i didnt had a travelpower untill lvl34, where i finaly did a respec-mission to go funny Granite style.
So for your question, yes it is do-able.. yet dont expect to be a full-range tanker, more kinda a scranker. Specialy CoT (ghosts and firecasters) and the Council can be a serious pain in the .... But if you have a good strong party (possible with /force or /sonic for def/resist) you can go around quite strong.
But as you said, you just have to pick the armors at least once, they are realy looking awsome.

Well when you are on invinci with mobs +2 levels or more you will need brimstone and crystal armours when encountering fire,cold/energy,negative foes, without relying on team mates to constantly buff/heal you and debuff foes. Trust me. All you then have to do is respec your stone tank at 32 and get granite armour and chuck out brimstone, crystal and stone skin. Get teleport as your travel power, get all the fitness powers except hurdle (you can't jump with rooted on), hasten (rooted slows your attack rate), combat jump for extra defence/resistance and the fighting pool powers that increase your defence/resistance would not go amiss. There are so many options that could make you one hell of a great tanker, but with fire as your secondary don't expect to do much damage. I went stone/axe and its lovely! People laughed at me because axe KB's foes... well good tanks TAUNT =D and keep the agro even if the foe is whacked away from the mob you just herded. Axe with 1 slot for damage does a fair amount, I can't wait to repsec and get stamina 3 slotted and my attacks 3 slotted with damage...

I took 2 travel powers, teleport and fly. With AS from the fly pool you get a nice extra attack (knockdown!!) and fly is just a lazy way instead of nonstop TP clicking (mission-traveling). And its just fun flying about a group of mobs and come falling down as big stone block

Rooted doesn't slow your attack rate and you can't use CJ with Rooted or GA as far as I know? Stone skin is still useful to use with Granite as it maxes out the S/L resistance.
Rooted only has -slow and -fly/jump, no -recharge.
I was also wondering that about CJ, i never had leaping pool but so far i know, nothing can be run together (toggle that is) with GA that involves boosting jump/sprint/fly.
Once you go Perma GA, taking stone skin is dah way to go. If you got a slot free, you can get the rock armor to solo missions outside GA. (at start you have to choose between SS or RA).

Odd, my attack rate seems to have slowed down a bit. I said get combat jump, for those moments you turn to rock armour. Stone skin will still help, but i've seen a stone tank without it taking foes +6 levels. I like the idea about the flying above a mob while taunting then turning GA on and falling into the middle of them. But i doubt ill get fly just for that.
i just like fly badly, thats most reason why most of my toons flying around. I had the spots to take the attacks, the few times i run in non-GA i can stay alive just perfectly. Once i go vs +2/+3 or even +bosses i already jump into GA, with Rage my output damage still is decent.

CJ won't stack with rooted as far as I know and there are not many occasions where I wouldn't be running rooted if not in GA.
I have a lvl 4 Stone/Fire Tanker that I rolled a while ago after seeing a great one in action (hi Silentium). Recently got the hots for it again after playing it a bit. Just wondering if anybody had any tips on this combo. So far I've got the Rock Armour, Stone Skin, Scorch and Fire Sword. I'm thinking of taking the Teleport line for travel. Other than that, I'm open - any ideas?
