A question about Earth's Embrace.

Hello everybody!

I'm a new player and choose a stone/stone brute as my first character, and there is something I wonder about the ability Earth's Embrace.

It says it increases your max hitpoints, which seems simply enough - but what I wonder is are you given these extra points when you use the ability, kinda like a heal? Or do you have to rest or be healed afterwards to make use of these extra hitpoints?

Yes, it heals the added points.

Thats great, thanks for the reply

personally i thought earth embrace was different from the other +maxhp powers cause it doesnt have a heal element (which powers like hoarfrost do have)

however, your health % on your hp bar stays the same, so if you had 75% health and activate earth's embrace, it will only heal the offset to 75%.

At least, that's how i always looked at it, but im not sure.

"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

Earth's Embrace does both heal and add to your max HP. Slotting Heal enhancers will increase both the heal amount and the addition to max HP.

EE and all the +max hp powers are best used I find before a scrap to buff your hit points so that you are capable of withstanding the mobs alpha strikes. In this sense its great.

As a heal though your better offer popping some insp's because of the slow recharge time.

I would say it's better to use just after the alpha strike as it'll heal some of that damage as well as boosting your HPs.
We are talking about a stone brute aferall. He should be able to withstand the alpha strike unboosted.

It takes an awfully long time to get to Granite! If your running Stone Skin, Rock Armour and Rooted your probably one of the weaker Brute sets out there in regards to absorbing an alpha strike.

Hence why it's better to heal AFTER the alpha strike than before. You're STILL going to take the same amount of damage but in the latter case you can't heal any of it.

Unless that alpha strike does more damage than your total HP, in which case you won't get a chance to use EE

Obviously, but this is an atypical situation, unless you're fighting AVs or your shields are slotted particularly poorly.
For the rest of the time; better to hit it after the alpha strike.

Not sure that's true, pre-granite you're almost entirely Def based, pretty easy for a large amount of damage to get through especially if you're fighting above your level, which typically you will be; that applies all the way to level 30.

Well if the Alpha strike from a typical (above your lvl) mob is enough to inflict more than your basic HPs then you're in trouble with or without Earth's embrace as right after the alpha strike you'll be facing an almost intact load of spawns with 30% health.
Better have plenty of greens or someone with a decent heal on standby.

The other thing about alpha strikes is that it's staggered. Even if you accumulate enough damage to overwhelm your basic HPs you still have a few seconds to react. Unless you're facing something that can one shot you, and if it's not an AV odds are you're in over your head anyway.

Personally, my style is to run into a group (who will take their shots at me), then hit them with Fault, Tremor then use ST attacks on the boss, repeat. This keeps the group almost all permanently stunned and those that aren't are getting thumped by me. This means the most dangerous moment is when I'm approaching, after that 80% of the group are no threat at all, but it depends on the situation.
