For the ice mistral guys last night:

My PC suffered a fatal error followed by the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD). Was unable to reboot the PC after the second time (And that took hours alone). Disk Read Error, Plus unrecoverable files from the C: causing me to almost destroy my HDD using a Hammer, after even a windows installation didn't work.
So sorry I bailed out last night.

PS. The PC is alright now using the old installation and no files lost at all (so far, knock on wood). The problem? One *big* inside-fan didn't work resolting in high tempature and dust, caused my PC to malefunction. Wierd - could have fixed it alone last night.

Ok, here we go.... the story of the RSF...

Strike Force Paralt : Part One
The dim lighting that filled the room with a misty silver glow and the gentle hum of the reclaimators that recycled the air of the base and kept the temperature ambient were the only things that were visible to the immediate observer, were one to have been present in the base. In the corner of the large, domed ceiling was a large podium, made from rare woods and inlaid with priceless metals and jewels, forming the shape of a horned skull. This was currently unoccupied, the controls of the holographic display unused, the display itself, a large metal ring, set within the heart of a large circular table, was at its rest state, displaying the same horned skull as adorned the podium, hanging shimmering in three dimensions, staring balefully at nothing. Bookshelves lined three of the walls, filled with rare and powerful tomes, and many priceless sculptures and works of art were dotted around. The very air was charged with stillness, a ‘something’, just waiting to happen.

The waiting ended abruptly, the silence shattered, as the great metallic door that barred entry to the Library room opened with an audible hiss, gears turning heavily in the background. The pale lighting was replaced by the bright actinic arc of strip lights that burst into glow from above, bathing the room. The holographic display, sensing that the room was opened, flashed into life, displaying its last set file, a three dimensional view of Atlas Park.
Into the newly opened room strode an imposing figure, all shining tan armour, his face shielded by a yellow visor, one that shimmered with constant tactical and positional information, even here, within his own inner sanctum. Striding forwards, the very floor seeming to shake under his heavy tread, he strode confidently towards the podium. Mounting the steps up to it, he turned, watching the three that followed him in. A demonic creature, her skin red, eyes flaming, was carried in upon on writhing throne of vines, rare and poisonous flowers cascading down behind her in a ghastly train, emitting a beguiling yet deadly odour. A buccaneer of some sort strode confidently in, his one eye assessing the value of everything in the room to the last coin, even though he had done it many times before, out of practised reflex rather than need, his red and black cloak tossed back rakishly over one shoulder to display his cruel curved blade at his hip. Lastly a woman dressed in robes of finest scarlet, her bearing haughty, strolled inwards casually, surrounded by an honour guard of black clad ninjas. As they took their seats around the circular table, the figure on the podium addressed them.
“Hail, Lady Doom, Black Jon Bludd, Scarlet Vengeance.” He intoned. “I declare this meeting of Demons and Vengeful Spirits leaders open!”
The three around the table watched him impassively. Lady Doom bent her red hand down and flicked a button under the table, causing a series of silver trays to rise up, bearing chilled bottles of champagne and crystal goblets. One was grasped in a coiling vine, which pulled the cork out with an audible popping noise and poured a generous glass of it, which Lady Doom grasped and took a deep draught from.
As she drank Scarlet Vengeance spoke. “It’s been a quiet few weeks. Jobs from Arachnos are right down, and we’ve somewhat burnt our bridges with Crey, the Family, the Tsoo… my the list goes on…”
“Not just burnt the bridges, aye.” Black Jon Bludd laughed, holding a bottle of champagne in one gloved hand, drinking it in big gulps. “I should think after the way we gave them the rope they are wishing we’d all just get lost, no?” he paused for another few gulps. “After we boosted that pile of jink and shiny from Crey we’d have more chance of catching a berth with Longbow! As for the Tsoo… you remember making Tub Chi scream in pain before you threw him out that window Two Fist?”
Behind his visor Two Fist did smile, and he inclined his head in a nod.
“Times are hard.” Lady Doom agreed. “We robbed that bank in Peregrine Isle, and that was profitable enough, but it’s all small scale stuff. All our troubles started with Project: Destiny. Like them or loathe them…”
“And loathe them we do…” Scarlet interjected.
Lady Doom waved aside the interruption. “Like them or loathe them, they were the main source of most of our business, and thus wealth. And with wealth comes power, and power is all we crave.”
Two Fist remembered Project: Destiny fondly, or at least its conclusion…

The smoke hung heavy in the air, full of the stench of charred flesh and burning oil. Atlas Park certainly looked different in the future, with the globe of atlas having sheared in half, crushing all underneath it, and the once green parks and boulevards seas of cinders and melted railings. The war walls were down, all but one, which was flickering feebly, bright sparks of energy impacting into the already tortured earth. All across the once proud paragon city packs of tortured spirits, Rikti outcasts and scattered bands of Longbow and Arachnos loyalists fought and died for a world already lost.
Feeling the breath of fresh air from the portal at his back, shipping the smoke up into strange swirls, Two Fist strode out into the carnage, his suit protecting him from the worst of the heat at smoke. Behind him fanned out the loyal Demons and Vengeful Spirits he had brought with him. Lady Doom, her vines a mass of burning tendrils tearing free from the charred ground, Scarlet Vengeance, her army of Ninjas already taking up position behind her, weapons ready, Ms Kitty, the catwoman who commanded fell powers of shadow, her very steps masked by a veil of pure darkness, Chaos Agent, the burly bearded thug who was a master of devastating energies, both for attack and defence, Helioss, the Fiery Devil who displayed extreme violence with flame and mighty fist, Atomic Tempest, resplendent in her Black Dress, yet glowing with barely contained Radiation and Kinetic Power, and Black Jon Bludd, the rapacious pirate, his eye always on the loot, his hand always on his sword.
It had been very satisfying, Two Fist thought with pride, as he assumed his form of pure Granite, growing to prodigious size, the very ground boiling and bubbling around him. Professor Echo had tried to trap him, and paid for it, his mighty fists smashing armour and bones like kindling. At the end he had told all, about Project: Destiny, and Two Fist had pondered. A trip to Aeon had proved most elucidating, and after Aeon had disavowed responsibility for attack, he had let slip that many years ago, just as Two Fist was starting up in his villainous career, at the first appearance of Professor Echo, he had been told of this future, where the world was ripped apart by war created by Recluse and Destiny. Given co-ordinates, Black Jon Bludd was dispatched to bribe and extort Grant Naylor for co-ordinates to visit this shattered future, and success was gained. Now, here they were, ready to show Recluse just why Project: Destiny needed to be curtailed, the only way Recluse would respect, with naked force…

OK here's a proposed RSF build for Major Helioss, I've gone for a few possibly odd choices but I think this will make you an invaluable asset on any RSF team (we really must check about the vengeance stacking thing)

I've gone for medicine pool so that you have a nice safe way to heal yourself in an emergency, and to give you a basic rez.

You'll have no problem running these toggles and fighting mate - just bind hover and fly to a button so you can switch em easy - you'll soon know if you're fighting in fly mode when u run out of end [img]/uk/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

I'd say its worth a pop but feel free to counter guys - remember though its an RSF-specific build - so we're looking for a very strong support/+4 Hero Killer.

Morning all - new patch has hit US Test server - good news and bad for us:

Good:
Fly gets 2 buffs - one general endurance discount to it and 2 that it is now affected by Swift, Lightning Reflexes and Quickness (but only if you weren't at cap before)

Prestige rate increase 25% - so get in SG mode!

Those little buff things last an hour

Arachnos Gville Flier GM is fixed!!!


Bad:

The Freedom Phalanx members in the Recluse Strike Force will no longer Drop enhancements. This should help alleviate the issue of players' trays being full when the Synthetic Hamidon Enhancement is awarded. - GITS! So we lose out on 7 or 8 lovely SO's cos the devs don't want it being too nice for us..... what a poorly hidden excuse of peoples tray being full.....

Non-Secure plots can now only have 1 item of power. Kinda re-opens the whole secure or not but I still lean towards not so long as we get the damn fusion generator badge (for which I want to arrange a night in a PvP zone of choice for us all - we need to spend 50 CONSECUTIVE hours I think to get the badge - though that's a guess (not the 50 part).

Notes ripped from a US Thread (I take no credit) from an interview with Posi yesterday - some VERY nice and interesting things coming soooooon....

1. another double xp event before the end of the year.

2. Another Halloween Event this year, bringing back original elements as well as add some "special treats" and get new contacts. The new treats can be
traded into contacts and receive a new reward that hasnt been given out before.

3. (training room patch discussed) Empowerment stations buffs didnt stack as intended, so since it doesnt work that way, they now last 60 minutes, replacing non stacking.

4. Possible all decorative rooms going down to 50k, if not 50k, they will go down in cost.

5. Issue 8 expect a possible RENT system change. (one is possibly rent could be free if its a small enough plot)

6. COP Trail scheduled to be debuting before i8. Base raiding not being promoted yet due to lots of bugs, time in getting the systems worked out.

7. Lots of stuff planned for pocket D.

8. PLans to add bigger teleporters to hold more beacons. No ETA.

9. Fix has been made for players not receiving HO drop when encoutering Hamidon. Coming Soon to live!

10. Teleporting back to mission after rezing in base is a bug. But there is an auxillary item going in as well (when the fix is made) to allow
you teleport to the active mission as a choice.

11. Looking into possible teleport to front door to Icon!

12. So far no plans for teleport beacons into PVP zones due to balance issues and possible exploits.

13. Arenas bugs will be getting fixed as they come in, new feature in next issue is that Pocket D will receive arena terminals so that villain and heroes can battle easier.

ISSUE 8

14. Issue 8 Title: To Protect and Serve! (taunt by Posi to see if players can figure out what chapter this relates too )

15. Invention system was scheduled for i8. Its a very big, detailed and scarey and moving it out of i8 to concentrate more directly on it.
if they worked on it, i8 would have been pushed back to next year. Some systems are done. It will probably come out in its own issue.

16. Rewards system: 1st veteran reward 3 months Trenchcoats on all characters. They are a back option, IE like a cape. There are veteran rewards planned for up to 3 years of subscription. (April)

17. Wings: an unlockable costume piece. Wings will move in flight. (very impressed with look of wings).

18. Jetpacks eventually coming down the road. (Flight options). Castle has made a zillion and will kill posi if he is asked to make one more.

19. starting with issue 8 each issue will build on itself regarding storyline wise. And when the "show drops" youll know. Plans are coming for zone wide events tied with storylines.

20. 5th Column: Their return is planned but not for this year.

21. Respecs as a veteran reward, new base items (comic cover art as posters for base).

22. New missions and contacts for 50+ contacts for issue 8, and adding more content for under used zones.

23. Possible to get into Rikti Ship, in the future?!

24. Jay has a lot of costume options, some are going into issue8. He is reading the forum every day! Someday he may get a red name.

25. Power customziation and effects of powers: Its very hard. Colors are "baked into" the powers. Its a huge effort, its not on a schedule, but it doesnt meant hat it cant jump onto a schedule.

26. Epic Archetypes: Incarnates? They are planned as an Epic, dont know when yet. They dont fit into the current storyline. It will be first Epic after Nictus for COV! Confirmed,
Nictus are confirmed as a lvl 50 villain Epic! They will be like warshades, but an evil version of a peacebringer, with some power tweaks.

27. Planned Box Expansion: It has been taken off the schedule as a paid expansion. They are going to please the player base by moving all the features from the paid expansion into free issues!
There fore the issues will maintain storylines that would have lead up to the free expansion. issue 9, 10, and 11 storylines planned for next year.

28. New high end villains for high end players.

Breaktime!

29. Rent may be based off plot size.

30. Plot costs are staying the same, to give Larger SG's long-term goals.

31. Posi has been investigating increasing SG's size. An Idea is if you have 5 alts, in a SG it would count as 1 slot fo the 75 in the SG rather than 5.

32. Adding arch villains as gladiators, but new thigns to do with Gladiators!

33. Dev Hosted PVP arena Events and giving a reward?: Possible. Idea, SG tournament, and last SG standing vs. Devs!

34. All out PVP zone without NPC's or debtless PVP zone coming?: removing threat of NPC's removes incentive, XP gain for example. But zone with no NPC's is possible idea.

35. Faultline, getting upgrade.

36. New badges coming, inlcuding veteran reward badges! Most badges are going to be focused out of combat. 2 new accolades coming into game, no ETA.

37. Paigon Poker is really exciting for Posi, nothing to do with the game. LOL

38. Minion customization is something they are not touching.

39. New powersets are still coming as it was planned for the expansion. They will be broken out into issues. He just needs to make them "cool"

40. Recluses SF: it is where the devs want it. Its meant to be hard and be proud when its completed. They recognize some AT's are better at it, but its the nature of the beast.
They have ideas on helping those AT's but nothing coming soon?

41. Stalkers and DOms not feeling useful in the Recluses SF: They believe it takes a player to know the weakness and strengths of teams, aand fit in to be used as best as possible.
As for stalkers they have awesome dmg right off the back, and players recognize to use them as their dmg drops off with DPS.

42. They are constantly monitoring all AT's.

43. moment of glory: Not sure if there are any plans coming for MOG. They keep data mining it and balance numbers it, but not sure if changes are coming.

44. Patch notes issues: people type them in. People make mistakes. They made changes to the process and hopefully it should be easier to not miss as much. They are doing their best.

45. Villain powersets moving over into Heroes? yes it is planned. Its somehting they can do quickly, but not sure when. There will be some hold backs for uniqueness but some can definitely work on heroes.

46. Buffs and debuffs are primarily assigned to their individual games. But first they would want to move certina powers over before working on buffs.

47. Tweaking bases to allow a 1 person SG, and allowing first plot to be rent free is better than redesigning base editor for apartment style housing for players.

48. Training room is the cross server PVP server :P

49. Windows in bases? He needs to convince art department that they can do it. But art says it isnt possible. its being looked at.

50. Anymore Mastermind sets coming? One more is coming, not animal based. Its 1 of 10 new powersets thats coming out next year. Posi says NO CLOWNS!

52. Villains turning heroes, heroes turning villains: they would like to see it happen, theres a lot of hurdles before implementing. Posi thinks its worth putting in but tey have to get past the tech hurdles.

53. Flashback: loves idea of flashback, but it takes away from altism. They understand that players have to make alts to see all the content, but iits a double edged sword.

54. Rewarding altism? comes with veteran rewards in a sense (ie permanent nemesis staff)

55. Jet pack on hero side coming like in Mayhem Missions.

56. Hazard zones coming in COV? probably not, but that doesnt mean Villains wont have access to hero hazard zones.

57. Server/character Transfers: something thats a priority, moving characters to other servers. Biggest hurdle is making sure its automated with no issues. Havent decided on pricing but will
most likely be a paid for transfer.

58. The war walls will begin to come down. The city council has decided they are not needed anymore. Happening in the very near future! Not sure where they will be coming down.

59. Will there be a TF like the Recluse SF? YES!

60. Will villains be able to raid hamidon? Undecided.

61. Hero/villain team up besides events? Yes.

62. More than 1 build type characters for PVE? Discussed ultimate enhancement slotting.

63. Defiance: Castle and Posi have talked about changes. They are looking into it.

64. Gladiators: choosing which gladiators they can fight, like a training? Yes, possibly in the form of a room in base. "danger room" type room for lack
of better words

65. Hercules Class titans: Hasnt seen a bug for it, and players should enter bugs in game for better understanding.

well there's still 7 SO's at 53 for the vindi's then anyway =)

and fly being buffed is good for me...


and the damn flier being fixed makes me VERY happy. as soon as it hits i'm sure everyone will be happy to help me bag it, right? =)

Ok fly buff good. Prestige buff good. No FP enhancement drops BAD! What the hell kind of excuse is that? having a full tray? I haven't heard a flimsier excuse since the whole WMD thing, pfft.

I notice in the patch notes many things that have yet to be fixed and would to me be high on the list of annoying bugs;

1) Stupid screaming noise on every power with the mesmerise animation. This affects about 4 of my toons, not impressed.
2) Tailor bug where it changes your costume, often only a little so you might not notice, and then charges you to put it right! Not to mention half the female toon costume options clip in unsightly ways or just don't fit right.
3) The bug where i have to go everyday to a dank and depressing pit of despair (probably on a hellmouth) and toil in misery for a few pathetic crumbs, pretending to not notice the pointlessness of existence.

Ok if the devs fix number 3 i'll let 1 and 2 go for now.

Notes ripped from a US Thread (I take no credit) from an interview with Posi yesterday - some VERY nice and interesting things coming soooooon....

1. another double xp event before the end of the year.

2. Another Halloween Event this year, bringing back original elements as well as add some "special treats" and get new contacts. The new treats can be
traded into contacts and receive a new reward that hasnt been given out before.

3. (training room patch discussed) Empowerment stations buffs didnt stack as intended, so since it doesnt work that way, they now last 60 minutes, replacing non stacking.

4. Possible all decorative rooms going down to 50k, if not 50k, they will go down in cost.

5. Issue 8 expect a possible RENT system change. (one is possibly rent could be free if its a small enough plot)

6. COP Trail scheduled to be debuting before i8. Base raiding not being promoted yet due to lots of bugs, time in getting the systems worked out.

7. Lots of stuff planned for pocket D.

8. PLans to add bigger teleporters to hold more beacons. No ETA.

9. Fix has been made for players not receiving HO drop when encoutering Hamidon. Coming Soon to live!

10. Teleporting back to mission after rezing in base is a bug. But there is an auxillary item going in as well (when the fix is made) to allow
you teleport to the active mission as a choice.

11. Looking into possible teleport to front door to Icon!

12. So far no plans for teleport beacons into PVP zones due to balance issues and possible exploits.

13. Arenas bugs will be getting fixed as they come in, new feature in next issue is that Pocket D will receive arena terminals so that villain and heroes can battle easier.

ISSUE 8

14. Issue 8 Title: To Protect and Serve! (taunt by Posi to see if players can figure out what chapter this relates too )

15. Invention system was scheduled for i8. Its a very big, detailed and scarey and moving it out of i8 to concentrate more directly on it.
if they worked on it, i8 would have been pushed back to next year. Some systems are done. It will probably come out in its own issue.

16. Rewards system: 1st veteran reward 3 months Trenchcoats on all characters. They are a back option, IE like a cape. There are veteran rewards planned for up to 3 years of subscription. (April)

17. Wings: an unlockable costume piece. Wings will move in flight. (very impressed with look of wings).

18. Jetpacks eventually coming down the road. (Flight options). Castle has made a zillion and will kill posi if he is asked to make one more.

19. starting with issue 8 each issue will build on itself regarding storyline wise. And when the "show drops" youll know. Plans are coming for zone wide events tied with storylines.

20. 5th Column: Their return is planned but not for this year.

21. Respecs as a veteran reward, new base items (comic cover art as posters for base).

22. New missions and contacts for 50+ contacts for issue 8, and adding more content for under used zones.

23. Possible to get into Rikti Ship, in the future?!

24. Jay has a lot of costume options, some are going into issue8. He is reading the forum every day! Someday he may get a red name.

25. Power customziation and effects of powers: Its very hard. Colors are "baked into" the powers. Its a huge effort, its not on a schedule, but it doesnt meant hat it cant jump onto a schedule.

26. Epic Archetypes: Incarnates? They are planned as an Epic, dont know when yet. They dont fit into the current storyline. It will be first Epic after Nictus for COV! Confirmed,
Nictus are confirmed as a lvl 50 villain Epic! They will be like warshades, but an evil version of a peacebringer, with some power tweaks.

27. Planned Box Expansion: It has been taken off the schedule as a paid expansion. They are going to please the player base by moving all the features from the paid expansion into free issues!
There fore the issues will maintain storylines that would have lead up to the free expansion. issue 9, 10, and 11 storylines planned for next year.

28. New high end villains for high end players.

Breaktime!

29. Rent may be based off plot size.

30. Plot costs are staying the same, to give Larger SG's long-term goals.

31. Posi has been investigating increasing SG's size. An Idea is if you have 5 alts, in a SG it would count as 1 slot fo the 75 in the SG rather than 5.

32. Adding arch villains as gladiators, but new thigns to do with Gladiators!

33. Dev Hosted PVP arena Events and giving a reward?: Possible. Idea, SG tournament, and last SG standing vs. Devs!

34. All out PVP zone without NPC's or debtless PVP zone coming?: removing threat of NPC's removes incentive, XP gain for example. But zone with no NPC's is possible idea.

35. Faultline, getting upgrade.

36. New badges coming, inlcuding veteran reward badges! Most badges are going to be focused out of combat. 2 new accolades coming into game, no ETA.

37. Paigon Poker is really exciting for Posi, nothing to do with the game. LOL

38. Minion customization is something they are not touching.

39. New powersets are still coming as it was planned for the expansion. They will be broken out into issues. He just needs to make them "cool"

40. Recluses SF: it is where the devs want it. Its meant to be hard and be proud when its completed. They recognize some AT's are better at it, but its the nature of the beast.
They have ideas on helping those AT's but nothing coming soon?

41. Stalkers and DOms not feeling useful in the Recluses SF: They believe it takes a player to know the weakness and strengths of teams, aand fit in to be used as best as possible.
As for stalkers they have awesome dmg right off the back, and players recognize to use them as their dmg drops off with DPS.

42. They are constantly monitoring all AT's.

43. moment of glory: Not sure if there are any plans coming for MOG. They keep data mining it and balance numbers it, but not sure if changes are coming.

44. Patch notes issues: people type them in. People make mistakes. They made changes to the process and hopefully it should be easier to not miss as much. They are doing their best.

45. Villain powersets moving over into Heroes? yes it is planned. Its somehting they can do quickly, but not sure when. There will be some hold backs for uniqueness but some can definitely work on heroes.

46. Buffs and debuffs are primarily assigned to their individual games. But first they would want to move certina powers over before working on buffs.

47. Tweaking bases to allow a 1 person SG, and allowing first plot to be rent free is better than redesigning base editor for apartment style housing for players.

48. Training room is the cross server PVP server :P

49. Windows in bases? He needs to convince art department that they can do it. But art says it isnt possible. its being looked at.

50. Anymore Mastermind sets coming? One more is coming, not animal based. Its 1 of 10 new powersets thats coming out next year. Posi says NO CLOWNS!

52. Villains turning heroes, heroes turning villains: they would like to see it happen, theres a lot of hurdles before implementing. Posi thinks its worth putting in but tey have to get past the tech hurdles.

53. Flashback: loves idea of flashback, but it takes away from altism. They understand that players have to make alts to see all the content, but iits a double edged sword.

54. Rewarding altism? comes with veteran rewards in a sense (ie permanent nemesis staff)

55. Jet pack on hero side coming like in Mayhem Missions.

56. Hazard zones coming in COV? probably not, but that doesnt mean Villains wont have access to hero hazard zones.

57. Server/character Transfers: something thats a priority, moving characters to other servers. Biggest hurdle is making sure its automated with no issues. Havent decided on pricing but will
most likely be a paid for transfer.

58. The war walls will begin to come down. The city council has decided they are not needed anymore. Happening in the very near future! Not sure where they will be coming down.

59. Will there be a TF like the Recluse SF? YES!

60. Will villains be able to raid hamidon? Undecided.

61. Hero/villain team up besides events? Yes.

62. More than 1 build type characters for PVE? Discussed ultimate enhancement slotting.

63. Defiance: Castle and Posi have talked about changes. They are looking into it.

64. Gladiators: choosing which gladiators they can fight, like a training? Yes, possibly in the form of a room in base. "danger room" type room for lack
of better words

65. Hercules Class titans: Hasnt seen a bug for it, and players should enter bugs in game for better understanding.

Well, if we are already at story telling, here is my Double Origin story i've written lately...

"Doubs' Unfortunate Tale"

This moment was foreseen. Foreseen, indeed, by an old prophet long ago, and he knew this, as well as the prophet who had long foreseen this. He waited for this moment for months, years even. Long, stretching months of waiting, pondering, research, time and relationships with beloved ones which were all sacrificed for normal life. "Wasted", he thought in retrospect, because in the end, the result was so different from what he had anticipated...
It was a cold evening. You know, one of those cold, frosty even, autumn nights. Only this wasn't one of those nights. Something was different this time around, and although this night was foreseen long ago, this still surprised him, the amount of power he could easily manipulate. The wind hurled itself toward the windows of the hut, as if it was unnatural, as if it could think. "No", he thought. "This isn't possible. Unimaginable. How can the wind think?" He then realized that "the wind isn't thinking. It is forced at the windows of this small, neglected hut." If people were to walk on the street outside, stepping into the radius of the hut, they would suddenly feel the cold wind bursting their face, threatening to rip it to pieces. And the cold wind wasn't all. The place was heavily raining. It was so cold that surprisingly, small fire earth cubes burst from thin, cold air, hurling about, threatening to kill.
The small and neglected hut was isolated, and yet there was no one near the house. No one looking, no one walking down the street. The place itself was unnatural. The busy street normally swamped by visitors, tourists, inhabitants, was now completely empty from every being known to mankind.
But he knew. He was told that at this day, June 12, at 20:59, the clocks would not change to the next hour, but instead, it will continue to count upwards. It would count upwards in a rapid pace, within moments, until it will reach 20:76. At this short time, it was told that a time warp will pull away all those present in the hut, into the past. 15 minutes into the past, where all life has already been drained away by the dark forces, and then…
The people not present in the hut, however, won't notice any change in the space-time continuum. It will be, in fact, only in this separated, dark and dead world, that the cold yet fiery storm, blizzard even, will exist.
And then, when the old, dusty clock on the wall reached 20:77, a man walked in the hut like there is nothing unnatural outside. He was wearing a black and gold cloak on his back, and a brown cane held tight with his left hand. It was the look of a magician, shown on children's cartoon movies, such as Aladdin.
The magician, named Kal'terun, broke the silence with a very rusty voice, saying "Hello, Dave Doubs."
The man, not surprised at all, responded with a younger voice, as if he was an adolescent, "I have been expecting you."
"Your powers truly are one of a kind. My prophet taught you well of cloaking protection. Only a remarkable man could ever summon such a cold storm and gale this place, while holding this hut in place in a different, dead world", Kal'terun said, and continued after a moment with the same, hollow voice: "I will keep my end of the barging, as agreed, if I will be promised a way out of this place fast enough."
"Of course. Once we complete this ritual, the place, I expect, will merge once more with the real world, and you, my old friend, will return safe and sound." Doubs said. "Do you have the jewel?"
"I do indeed. Once we put this jewel on your belt, and say the words of the ritual, this will be completed."
"I am not doing this in order to fulfill your prophet, you know. I am doing this for the safety of my family, my friends. In a short time, I found out that I could control everything known to be. Fire and ice as one can be constructed to build a giant, powerful sword that can cut through diamond easily. I can lift people just by thinking about it, choking a crowd of people, almost killing them in one hand shake. I can use kinetics energy and manipulate both to my willing, enveloping beings with dirt, immobilizing them. I can use my mind to rip a person to tw..."
"And this is why you are doing this. To save those you love," the magician said. "Once we perform the ritual, your powers will all be striped away from you, for ever. Are you sure you want to continue?"
"Yes. Just give me the jewel".
And then, when Dave Doubs touched the jewel, the entire room changed.

"So, are we ready to do this?" asked the Big, Ugly ice tanker named "Jummy Bear".
"Ready!" said his teammates.
"Not ready!!!" Said the youngest one. "I still don't understand the plan."
Star Jewel sighed and repeated the plan once more, "Look Frogue", was the nickname of the youngest, "The red bubble will protect you from radiation, while we kick those skiff's butts. As long as we use the Coolant Belts to repair the reactor core from damage, everything will be ok."
"And the sky raiders will come in waves, about 10. So we will have enough time to heal and revive if something goes back", said the oldest one called Okton, and Jiaozy followed him with his wisdom words. "Okton00b is right! Just kill the Sky Skiffs and we will be alright."
"Ok, let's go in." said the big ice cube.
Then Frogue opened the door. Maybe it happened because he was the youngest of them all, Jiaozy thought later, but what happened afterwards was nothing short of all hell braking loose. Jiaozy could identify the big round hall of the reactor core, but inside they didn't face any sky raider, but Clones. Identical clones, wearing the same simple clothes Dave wore at his meeting at the dead world. They were all surprised, but it was Frogue that would make the first move. His hands turned red, and he was lifting up the air, focusing his entire strength at his fists, ready to burst them at the one closest to him.
The one in front of him, however, was faster than Frogue. He lift his right arm up, aiming at the floor beneath Frogue's jumping body. Dirt burst up from the ground, although they were a few floors up, and wrapped up Frogue's body, who said "let me go". His fists were now buried in the rock which was slowly crushing his lungs, and they took out the focused strike out. The remaining of the rock was now scattered around the room.
"What is going on here", said the men around the room, each one echoing the one next to him. They all said it in the same time, and the same young voice.
"They all look the same", thought Jummy Bear just when one of the clones started to attack. His arm was up in the air, and his body suddenly lifts up in a perfect move. He landed quickly behind Frogue, and his punch now sparked lightning blue, and fists of electricity quickly landed on a Porter's head.
"This is so cool," said Frogue. "Let's do this again!"
The clones now all looked up at Frogue. The one closest to him, who could control the earth, said "This wasn't supposed to happen! What went wrong?"
Another one said "I don't know. Maybe I was too powerful for the magician's amulet; he didn't even say the incantation!"
"What do you think about this, Jiaozy?" whispered Star Jewel quietly, and got an answer of "I don't know. They don't seem as if they will hurt us though."
Frogue, though, had something else to think about. His hands turned red again and he pushed back the one with electric fists away from him, toward the reactor core. "I don't like them".
The clones were surprised by this move, and were all looking up at Frogue again. He now bent over, as if his stomach was hurting. The one closest to him knew what this was all about, and lift his arm once more. This time, his hand was glowing green ("perhaps a side-effect from the reactor core", thought Okton), and within seconds Frogue began to glow red and green. He now really felt sick, and tried to hurl a blast toward the leader, but he missed. His fist was now glowing again, and he was focusing his powers, lifting up in the air. The leader used both his hands this time, made them glow green, and moved his arms downward, quickly and swiftly, to summon another field, just when Frogue's fists landed on the leader's head. The leader ducked, and he wasn't seemed to be hurt at all. A different clone now emerged from the back, landed in front of the leader, and focused. Frogue and Star Jewel couldn't move their hands and feet, and they were now moving backwards from the new clone.
"Stop this, Luminos." Said Okton. The last think he noticed about the clones was that although they all looked exactly the same, they all had a shining Jewel on their belt. It was positioned at the same place, but each jewel had a different color.
Luminos jumped from the back of the group, nodding. "In a second." He jumped quickly right in the middle of the crowd, and his body was now glowing from electricity. All at once, the clones stopped. The weird green fields stopped working, and Star Jewel could now move again and take care of the fainted Frogue. With a swift move, Luminos released an EM-Pulse, and the clones all fell down, fainted as well.
"What’s your name?" asked the tanker.
"Dave…..Doubs…"

"Yes, I remember that day JumJum. The day it all began. There are now clones of me. Doubles. Wandering about in Paragon City."
"But you are the original one, Doubs."
"And that is why the others, my clones, are named 'Double'."
"I sure would like to see you before the transformation."
"No you wouldn't. It doesn't matter now. All my powers, my abilities, are split between my doubles." Said Dave.
"If you'd had the chance to unite once more, would you?" asked JumJum.
"That, my friend, is a story for another time…"

Part 2: Agony Hall...

The brave Demons and Vengeful Spirits advanced across the charred plains, ignoring the rattle and hiss of high explosive shells that rained down around them. A squad of longbow, their once proud red and white uniforms, now stained with soot and muck, had taken up a dug in position in what once was the great park of Atlas. A lone warden, his face splattered with gore, one arm hanging limp, was directing a long range blanket barrage of shells towards the distant Atlas City Hall, but many were aimed wildly by the panicked Longbow, so nowhere was safe.
Two Fist surveyed it critically, his helmet display brining up reams of tactical data and suggesting likely casualty figures for various attack options. It was a well dug in position, despite the panic that gripped them. Benches and walls had been torn down and laid to give heavy pockets of cover, and great craters left over from the second Rikti attack afforded deep shelter.
Making a split second decision, with the style of leadership that had taken Demons and Vengeful Spirits to the pinnacle of success, Two Fist made his move. “Kitty, Scarlet.” He barked. “I want that area blanketed with darkness and cold. Their morale is fragile, it might break them, and it will shield our approach.”
Snapping off a martial arts bow Scarlet raised her hands and gestured. The sky around them dimmed, and suddenly a single shaft of absolute darkness pierced the heavens, crashing down into the crater, filling it with a veil of absolute night. As the Longbow began to scream and panic wildly, firing grenades and shells in all directions, Kitty strode closer. When she was no more than a few dozen feet away she hurled forth a black comet of darkness, which as it sped forwards peeled away to reveal a shadowy creature with burning eyes, which sped into the shroud of shadows with a baleful screech. Shouts of terror from the Longbow became screams of pain and the explosions from grenade and shell became the baking staccato of close range automatic weapons fire.
Two Fist howled his delight. “Now for the attack! Spare no one!”
As his loyal troops charged across the blasted landscape Two Fist felt himself engulfed by a shimmering rainbow of energy. Feeling renewed, the sluggishness of his massive granite body replaced by a graceful swiftness, he waved a fist in salute to Atomic Tempest, who hovered above. As soon as she had blessed her teammates with the power of Speed, she began to fire blasts of superheated radioactive gas towards the enemy fortifications, which detonated with a series of hot, deafening crashes.
Bursting through the darkness, Two Fist saw a shape emerging through the night and lashed out, taking the bemused Longbow with a mighty punch, striking him so hard ribs shattered like kindling, piercing internal organs. Hurling the body aside to crumple like some ragged doll, Two Fist pressed his assault, leaping up into the air, coming crashing down upon one longbow, the shock shaking the earth and killing instantly, his fists lashing out, wreathed with searing orange energy, blasting apart a Longbow Nullifier. Beside him came Helioss, streaking past, trailing flames. One of his massive clawed fists, looking more like paws, flailed out, sending a Longbow flying almost thirty feet, to come to a terminal stop against a nearby wall. His other hand jabbed out, felling another, and then he spun, grabbing one more and hurling the terrified foe straight into the path of Chaos Agent, who dispatched him with a single shattering blow.
Suddenly everyone was thrown backwards, except Two Fist, who merely grunted and slid several inches, leaving large grooves in the barren soil. As the Longbow Warden who had caused the devastating explosion of sound and fury reeled backwards, his strength spent, Two Fist began to race towards him, ready to SMASH, but as he did so he felt his unnatural boosted speed fade away. The Warden, who was cowering in fear, watched this transformation, and with a sudden grin, raised his one good arm, a nimbus of power dancing around his outstretched hand, Two Fist bent all his strength to closing the gap, knowing it would be too late, so bracing himself to shrug off the impact he was surprised to see a lashing vine twine around the wardens neck, crushing the windpipe with a sudden jerk.
Looking around, he saw that Lady Doom was smiling at him, as her burning vines choked the life out of the remaining Longbow.
“An excellent win.” Two Fist declared. From the patch of cover they had bloodily usurped from the Longbow they had an almost clear run towards the City Hall, where an Arachnos flier was circling, spotlights searching the ruins, weapons occasionally discharging a hail of rockets down to enemy positions.
“Recluse will be there…” Kitty said, appearing out of the murk. “To stand where the greatest heroes once ruled from… that would be where he lays his web.”
“Well, this is one spider that is going to find out that the flies are angry.” Two Fist replied. Looking around his visor began to identify the ethereal signatures of ghosts and tortured spirits beginning to converge upon the area, eager to slay all survivors and force them to share their eternal torment. “Move out! Full combat formation!”
The Demons advanced, unleashing fire and energy and chilling death upon the few ghosts who were foolish enough to come near, destroying their corporeal bodies, leaving behind only fading voices on the breeze. However, they were only the first of many, and looking around, the horizon was thick with tortured souls, men, women, children, all reduced to an ephemeral mist of writhing, tearing hands.
“Head for the hall!” Two Fist ordered, as they were all enveloped by the shimmering energies from Atomic that granted advanced speed. Outpacing the howling mob behind them, which was tearing apart anything it could get it’s collective hands on, from the smallest rat to Arachnos and Longbow troops, they approached the city hall. The sign was mostly gone, leaving only a few letters. …AG..ON….Y HALL was all that was left. Several score Arachnos troopers were ensconced in various positions, most of them Bane Spiders, but a few Fortunata’s and Tarantulas were also present. Overhead, the Flier continued its implacable orbit
