I've read on the US boards traps is actually quite good in PvP- at splitting up teams and actually "corrupting" Traps can break up a whole hero team for the rest of the villains to kill.
In PvE i think traps does have potential but its more of a thinkers set requires lots of imagination and how to use the powers with the surroundings, But people will fell its overshadowed by other corrupter secondaries- but who cares you can dish out some damage and blast to, I wouldn't really choose AR as a primary unless your going for concept, Fire/traps would be cool.
Remember to take tp foe and caltrops 
snare them in your traps and they can't escape
i have a lvl40 AR/Traps Corruptor
i really like the set and i think they go well with each other IMHO
nothing like web grenade + ignite combo for straglers and full auto + flame for groups add in caltrops + poison trap
u're laughing , but i do think his more a team build than solo
lots of fun , though could be better ,
its a great feeling setting up a few trip mines and teleporting some unsuspecting mob to its death
on my 2nd corr Dark/Dark lvl27 atm while i give my lvl37 Bot/traps a rest

I have had a few different AR corrupters even though I have deleted them all, mostly because the names I chose for them began to feel awkward after a while (normally ends up going throe at least 10 names that has already been taken when I create a character).
However, the one major advantage of the set is the sounds and image of it. Sending a burst of bullets at your enemies feel so much more satisfying then, say sending a handful of flairs at them. There is just something about it feels so much more brutal... villainous even
The traps set on the other hand could use some work. A way more useful Triage Beacon for one would be nice. Nevertheless, reading the descriptions of the powers, they do seem interesting. Have not gotten a */Trap corruptor very far yet.
