Which Travel Power?

I have a tank and am coming upto the time when I need to start picking some power pool powers.

I'm not sure which travel power to head for...I have flight on my Controller so fancy a change.

I was looking at SJ...or maybe SS, but teleport takes my fancy. I know all about the advantages/disadvantages of each power when travelling but I'm look for any advantages certain power pools have over others during combat. Plus I'm looking for the best power pool as a whole at lower lvls rather than just the travel power from that pool.

I hope this makes sense...

for a stone tank, tp is a great thing to take allowing you to move quickly while in granite. Take hover to go with it if you can fit it in anywhere.

I actually like teleport and it is a good way of getting somewhere quickly. Much more useful when combined with Hover as Irradiator said (and fun - imagine hovering high over a group before turning on Granite and 'bombing' them).

Downsides. Very end heavy. You should slot at least one endred as soon as you get it and I seem to remember I still needed stamina before it didn't run out trying to get across large maps. Without hover, you also might drop somewhere nasty if there is lag. Tho I've never used it myself, there is a macro which people say makes using tp easier. It's not very good when scouting for glowies on outdoor maps.

Good things. Virtually essential for stone tanks. Makes moving around in granite or rooted so much easier. Good for escaping too - you can find yourself boxed in with rooted or granite on and no way to get past mobs - tp gives you a quick 100yrd getaway option.

As for the other powers in the pool. Not many people use tp foe but it has it's uses I guess. Team teleport is fairly pointless in most cases. Recall friend is great. Probably even more useful for a tank as they often find themselves as the last man standing and can run away and tp the dead teamates to a safe location for rezing.

Having seen a friend not get TP on a Stone Tank and then having to respec into it, I would say that teleport is an essential travel power for tanks, just for combat purposes.

This is in the same way that most Fire Tanks and Dark Armour scrappers end up getting Super Jump for the Acrobatics.

@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.

Was on a team last night with a stone tank (late 30s) that didn't have tp, stayed in Granite and always had rooted on too. Lets just say most of the fights had finished before he actually got close enough to hit anything....

hehe...I think TP it is then...sound like it has more uses in combat than any of the other travel power pools.

Thanks for the help...right...back to choosing which cape to get for my lvl20...and whether I can justify the inf

if you have any ground based powers (like ice patch) fly + air superiority is a nice combo as well. Especially if you like to PvP, air superiority is great to keep all those pesky flying blasters/defenders/controllers/corrupters/dominators near you to pummel on.

"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

Well thats not a problem. Give either of my first two chars a shout if I'm on and I'll sort you out a cape donation.

I just might take you up on that

Haven't thought about it...im full up with lvl20 DO enhancements...and my character has passed his newbie hero phase so it's time he ditched his T-shirt and combats and got some spandex

It's a serious offer. Not like I'm short of inf.

Besides, if you spend all your inf on a nice new costume, you'll never have enough for all those shiny new SOs in a couple of levels time. And shiny new SOs are the best.

I was wondering if someone could answer me this while we're on the subject.

How does teleportaion actually work? Do you activate the power and then move your mouse to choose where to go to and get there instantly? And in long distanse travel, do you have some time after teleporting when you get to hover, so you can choose your next target point?

Exactly but you can make life easier using binds. I use shift+left mouse button to tp.

Yes unless using a few powers which make you plummet from the sky instantly. Rooted springs to mind.
