AoE is a Area Of Efect Atack, any atack that can hit more than one enemy is a AoE ! If a mob trows a granade at you (AoE) your meale and ranged defences will have no use , only your AoE defences will prevent you from geting hit !

Meale and ranged togles: 12.5% defence
Meale and ranged passives: 5% defence
AoE defence is a litle higher : i think its about 20%
Any of them 3 sloted for defence with SO's will almost double the base defence values !

The only powers that gives you that is elude , i it has a huge recharge time :/
Most PBAoE/AoE/cone attacks count as AoE, however melee, and some short ranged PBAoE's/cones count as melee, not AoE.
from my sense of logic a cone is just a narrow area of effect no matter what the range, if you are caught in that range i believe only your aoe defenses will help you such as lucky, evasion and elude.

Nope, defense enhancements are schedule B so you'll get a 60% bonus.
Ok, I play a claws/SR stalker and am wondering about the different defense you get in there.
I know that melee defense is for all melee atacks and ranged is for all ranged attacks. But exactly what is AoE for, is it when I'm the seconday target of an AoE attack?
Does an AoE attack get counted as a ranged if I'm the primary target?
