Fire / Thermal set ups
I've got a lvl 25 fire/thermal at the moment.
The good thing with this build is that you can specalize in either blasting or healing or have a balance of both.
You need to decide do you want to be first; a damage dealer, healer/buffer or a bit of both.I'm going for the bit of both approach (more by accident than by design) but it's the best AT if found in CoH and CoV.
If you want to be a blaster...
Pick most of teh powers from the Fire Blast pool.I'd not bother with Rain of Fire but other than that all of the powers are useful. (i have a lvl 50 fire blaster with that power set up) you can pick up warmth as it's nice to be able to heal yourself but the rest of the powers in the Thermal pool are all targeted buffs so are a little pointless.
If you want to be balanced...
i'd pick all of the Fire Blast pool Powers except for Fire Ball and Rain of Fire (AoE (while good for damage) tends to draw agro to you which is not good as a healer).
and from the Thermal pool...
Warm: a good AoE heal
Cauterize: also great for targeted healing.
Power of Pheonix: a really cool Ressurect power
Thaw: basically "Clear Mind" from the Defender empathy pool
Forge: i've not got it yet but i plan too, it looks very useful
oh. and be prepared to use a lot of end reduction enhancments as doing two jobs at once is tiring but very fun
and for the Buff/healer
just pick all the Thermal powers... They seem to have a good balance, lots of heals, some shields and a few enemy deBuffs. leave out most of the Fire Blast pool.
Add to those builds Stamina and which ever travel power you want (SS is cool for Hasten IMO) Tho if you want to be a blaster Fly can be useful to stay out of melee range
Hope that was of some use
My build (roughly, i can't remember exactly what lvl's i got these powers at)
lvl 1 (Fire Blast, Warmth)
lvl 2 (Fire Ball)
lvl 4 (Cauterize)
lvl 6 (Hasten)
lvl 8 (Fire Breath)
lvl 10 (Speed) from fitness pool
lvl 12 (Aim)
lvl 14 (Super Speed)
lvl 16 (Rise Of Pheonix)
lvl 18 (Health) from fitness pool
lvl 20 (Stamina) from fitness pool
lvl 22 (Thaw)
lvl 24 (Blaze)
Thanks
Take the shields..please, take the shields...
(look at my "Character builds.." thread if you're wondering why - if you need to get rid of something, the rez is an obvious choice, keeping people alive is much more important)

i was going to post in the thread you started but didn't in the end. I'd agree that shields are a good idea, but if you want a fairly balanced character (2-3 attacks plus Aim) at low lvl's it's either heal or buff. There's not enough room when you have to include stamina and a travel power.
The only reason that shields would be a necessity at low lvl is because everyone wants to go up against purple con mobs and if they want to do that you'll not have things slotted right for shields to make any great difference so heals make more sense IMO.
Also in my experience of fire shields they didn't make that much difference to damage even when they were used (i didn't ask how they were slotted tho).
But if you really wanted to get shields then i'd suggest getting rid of fire ball and selecting fire shield (AoE agro is not a good thing as a corruptor). you'll still need rez as lots of people still don't carry awakens and even if they do they have to wait for the end of the fight to use them. Rise of Pheonix not only gets them back on their feet straight away but it has a nice knockback effect too so i'd recomend keeping it.
I'm not convinved by any rez - sure, they're useful, but the shields (and otehr defensive powers in other sets) will help the people dying in the first place, which, IMO at least, is far more useful than rezzing (just bring a few awakens...). but then, I'd probably even go as far as to say take shields over heals. Prevention > Cure.
Actualy, another point I've just thought of is that the shields are great for a blast orientated F/T, as you can whack em up before a fight then spend all your time (and end) blazing away
my fire/thermal rad corruptor is currently 32 and i've taken all the fire primerys except for flares and rain of fire.
On the thermal side i took the 2 heals, fire shield, the res, thaw, forge and will take the 2 debuffs.
plasma shield i didn't take as energy/negative damage is not that common..i'm also seriously thinking about dropping thaw as the duration on it is so short its not really useful as a buff more like a power to unhold people when they are held.
oh alot of people having been saying on the yank forums not to take forge or thaw but i did afew tests with a stalker and forge and his AS jumped from 170 to 301 with forge on.
