Weaken... does it really work enough?

I've noticed this for myself in game and while it does have a passing mention in a build thread (one of synergy_x's posts I think) I thought I'd give it a lil more of the spotlight with a dedicated thread of it's own.

While I get the impression that it's sister debuff 'envenom' seems to work, I've yet to really find weaken perform enough to really be noticable. That is... when I used it I felt pretty much the same as when I didn't.
The people I've chatted to ingame about it seem to feel the same so I thought it'd be worthy of space on the board to discuss whether this power really does enough to justify it's existance

Does anyone have any experience of this power actually making a noticable difference in combat that made them feel the power has it's place? Are there more people who feel it was kinda minor verging on pointless?

I keep feeling like I'm just missing something as the description looks snazzy on paper yet when I slap a badguy in the face with it I often feel like it's merely been a waste of time. Not to mention it's rather difficult sometimes to make out the effect that shows the baddy is still being afflicted with the debuffs ^^;

Inquiring minds want to know!!! XD

i always forget wich of the 2 "debuffs" is called weaken and more.. how the other one is called then.

I think the base acc-debuff in the power is very low, maybe around a 10%. Using a 3slot SO's you can boost it to a (asumed) 20%. Sortlike seems to be the damage debuff, yet un-slotteable it became somewhat lousy.

For the def/res debuff, i realy love this power specialy if u fight orange/red mobs it gives enough (with a extra def-debuff slotting) debuff to let your pets hit pretty often.

The main question remains if both debuffs are stackable like the sonic and dark powers do. Since they are pretty fast recharged it might be very nice wooping a few debuffs on a single lt or boss and both powers become pretty effecient.

I havent done any maths/testing yet with real numbers but from what i think/asume:

def/res debuff = around 10-15%
acc/dmg debuff = around 10%

Well I had weaken on beta but not envenom. I used it a lot and feel it might be worth using..It is slightly weak though.
Dunno which is better, envenom or weaken as I had no experience on the former. My MM was lvl 25 at best on beta.
Slotting my robots for accuracy felt a better plan than trying to use the def debuff.. And as for damage, the moment I slammed the first damage SO on my robots they suddenly started to kick serious posteriors

I used the cone -rec debuff as much as possible however. All the poison powers had slightly longish recharges which is somewhat annoying..

I like Weaken, and frankly I have noticed it's effect when it hits, so much so I have started referring to it as the "Neuter".

Throw it at a boss or something and watch him be [censored] for a while.

General battle plan:
1. Envemon first minion, set pets to attack him.
2. Weaken the next one to reduce the damage he does.

If there's a boss involved, he gets both and priority ninja-smacking.

well I'm glad someone finds it useful

Admittedly I hadn't thought to check if it stacked or not, my rather frantic experience involving a stupidly hard cobra, my almost dead team and all of us out of end felt much like it would've if I hadn't been slapping him with weaken; the only reason we survived such dire straits is because we made good use of the terrain to run until we had enough end to kill the beggar XD
It's moments like that I would've thought something like weaken would be more obvious with just the 1 horrible high level thing killing you all but even in more calm situations I didn't really notice the difference :s

I suppose something to try is to find out if it stacks, also slotting the silly thing might've helped; I have a bad tendancy to judge powers in their unslotted state without giving much heed to what they'd be like if I 6 slotted them with a decent mix of enhancers... then again I feel something I had to wait 2 levels for should be rather obvious in effect straight off the bat, especially if it doesn't directly kill things

A friend of mine has envenom and that definitely is noticable. Things seem to go down faster with it.
Perhaps one of the potential weaknesses of 'weaken' is that many of it's effects don't seem to be enhanceable as I'm not really aware of attack-debuff enhancers (just like I can't think of any attack-buff enhancers ) or much of the other effects it has besides the accuracy debuff.

Yo Jemma. I got this info from the IGN Hero Builder;

De-Buff : -Acc, -Dmg (Severe) ( Foe )
De-Buff : -Heal,-DefBuf,-End Drain,-Disorient,-Hold,-Immob,-Knockback ( Foe )

And it looks like only Accuracy and Defense Debuff are really enhanceable. Don't underestimate def debuffs for MM's - our minions will be dropping in level post lvl 17 so every bit of luck they get hitting stuff is good news. Try 3 slotting it with Def debuff and hit mobs with it before your pets engage em - you should see they hit far more often. Especially useful against lietenants and bosses, who obviously have higher defenses.

waii Mister gear!!!

Hmm... that doesn't sound right to me at all, but admittedly it's been a while since I read the descriptions. I was sure that envenom was a resist, defence and hp regen debuff while weaken was only a debuff of dmg, accuracy and secondary effects (knockback, disorient, end drain, holds and immob)

I'll have to have another look ingame at the tooltips but I do find IGN's description rather suspect and after some googling about I've not seen any posts anywhere that seem to agree with it :/

Well, i'm using weaken sometimes due to my habit no idea if it has made a huge difference but on the otherhand envenom allows to defeat Red bosses with minimal problems (except for Divine Wind That guy is the robo-slayer but yeah i downed him too after 3 tries). I'd take envenom over weaken any day.

Did a bit of very rough testing last night. It seems to drop a mob's damage output by approx 20%. Not something to be sniffed at but somewhat annoying that damage buffs/debuffs can't be enhanced. I've no idea what it's base accuracy debuff is but that's what I'll be slotting it for first.

hmmm weird... I would've thought I'd notice a 20% decrease; but then again I can't say I really notice the +15% dmg from assault when I have it on so I'm probably just being unobservant ^^;

Thanks for that bit of work you've done discerning the figures though; every little helps
