Becoming unhidden by damage.

I did the Cap Strike Force last night. I was ghosting the last mission and I noticed that when I accidentally fell in lava and took damage I became unhidden. I did occasionally fall in the lava and not take damage due to being too quick for the tick times, those times I remained hidden.

I can see the reasoning for becoming unhidden when an enemy hits you and does damage, as they now know you are there, but when you fall in lava, that doesn't sound right. Do other people agree with me?

The only way the lava thing could make sense is if the enemy see disturbances in the lava, in which case it should be when you are in any liquid ( such as the sea ) rather than anything to do with damage.

sort of, as you dont become unhidden from falling damage, so it makes sense.

I hadn't thought of that. Falling damage doesn't unhide you so why should lava......

However if an enemy hit me with a fire extinguisher temp power I would expect to be unhidden.
Does anyone know if that works?

i have on several occasions just been attacked by normal mobs who shouldnt be able to see me... my group mates have each time thought that i had attacked and missed or something but this is not the case. Mobs like Skulls or Helions or similar... nothing special. just ordinary minions.

Well possibly they might spot the hero shaped hole in the lava? Or the trail of lava you leave when you get out?

Some heroes trird to use it on me. Dont know if he missed but he tried 3 times and I remained hidden.

Obviously not enough thought has gone into the things that should remove hide status then.

If Lava unhides you then water should or falling damage should.
Why should a Fireball unhide you but a Fire extinguisher doesn't?

Personally I think any single target effect/attack from an enemy that hits should ALWAYS unhide you, whether it is damage or not. This is because the enemy thought you were there ( they have you targetted after all ) and now knows and can tell their friends.

Environmental damage, such as Lava and falling damage shouldn't unhide you.

AoEs attacks probably shouldn't unhide you for 'realism' purposes but should unhide you for game balance purposes. Although I think that some AoE mez effects like fear, confuse and taunt probably shouldn't, unless you are the targetted target of the attack.

Autohit powers shouldn't unhide you unless you are the target. But they could interrupt you, if appropriate.

I thought that Lava (and fire) was treated as an 'enemy' for game purposes that has a moderate DoT attack.

Hence the game equates it to something which will unhide you.

We've all seen Phantom Army or Statesman go nuts attacking lava before...

I agree that it shouldn't unhide you though.
