What to choose as secondary?
I whole heartedly agree with The_Question ive got a 50 regen and a 50 sr and regen is by far the most survivable ive ever played. i have not got any of the others past lvl 20 though. But regen is never hit and run. If your running with regen your just horrible at being a scrapper and should go back to your blaster. Regen is meant to die. Its gonna die thats why it has a rez.

The secondaries are pretty well balanced these days. SR and Regen do have very good survivability, though you have to work for it on Regen. Other secondaries have good survivability as well.
And to turn things around, "If you're dying with your Regen, you're just horrible at being a scrapper and should go back to being a blaster. Regen is meant to live. That's why it has so very many tools to keep you alive." (OK, OK, you'll probably die a lot on Regen while you learn the ropes. It's a school of hard knocks. I'd probably die a lot if I played it now because I'm out of practice.)
There are two schools of thought in regards to taking your rez. I'm firmly in the school that the power choice could have been devoted to keeping me alive, and that wakies and the hospital are good enough options for those rare times that I DO die. On the other side are people who apparently die way too often.
Oh, and I point and laugh at you now for falling for the necropost, ClawsandEffect.
And yeah, Amy, I think someone has a definition of "survivable" that doesn't match mine if it includes being meant to die often enough that a rez becomes a reasonable power pick. *chuckle*
Anyway, welcome to the Scrapper forum, Lord Of Gravity! Sorry if we're poking a little fun. We're actually pretty nice folks around here. And if you have difficult questions, the Scrapper forum has a lot of very experienced people, number crunchers, min/maxers, powergamers, anything you need to get solid answers.

I don't know about that.having teamed regularly with a few regens, and big mob can take their health down pretty quick, indeed I've seen a few Regen's lying face down with 'ARGH, Missed my click!' written above them.

cause been there done that
I know you have received a lot of ideas for invuln and Regen, but I've always enjoyed Willpower on toons I know are going to run a lot of solo mishes. Great survivability, some mental resistance, and even a Ressurect power if you get caught up in scrapperlock (as I sometimes do). It is all about playing styles I suppose.... Either way, I wish you the best of luck and send you the back slap of the Super Scrap!!@!

It could have just as easily have been you Werner, can you seriously say you would have remembered seeing this thread 4 years ago?
And in my defense, I wasn't even playing yet when the original post in this thread was made. Well, I was, but I had just started and hadn't found the forums yet, as my reg date illustrates.
That said, this one wins the necropost crown in my book. It is the farthest back I have ever seen one dredged up that recieved a legitimate serious reply (from myself in this case)

I've kind of got to wonder how exactly the necroposter managed to find this considering that there have been a good deal of substantially more recent discussions on the same topic with a lot more up to date information (lol, bringing up the first nerf to IH).
I'm still surprised it's around at all since I would have assumed the forum would have eaten this a long time ago.
((Hangs head in shame.....Ive been eaten by a zombie..)

Heya,
I read scrappers are kind of good for solo play, so i started one, since ill be soloing 90% of the time. I picked Claws, cause i like that idea alot, but i have no clue what the best secondary set is, mainly for solo purpose. I took reflexes on this first character, but what would you bunch of experienced scrappers advice me to pick as secondary, when solo play is the nr 1 priority? |

And yeah, this is the oldest thread I've seen dredged up. There have probably been older. I just haven't seen them.

Dark Armour : Dark Embrace, Obsidian Shield, Dark Regeneration, Murky Cloud.

Cloak of Fear and Cloak of Darkness are must haves if your going to do any PvP. You might also want to try Oppressive Gloom, but fears better IMHO.
You're insane. Speaking from extensive experience with a softcapped Broadsword/Dark Armor....DA is just about the WORST set you could take into PvP.
Look at the powers. Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom, do you really think any PvPer that has ANY clue what they're doing is going to let you keep these toggles up? If you're mezzed, even for a 1/4 of a second, they drop. Almost every possible character has SOME kind of mez to hit you with, you WILL have those toggles dropped almost instantly upon engaging in combat.
Dark Regeneration. Mine is slotted to heal well off one target. You'll be lucky if you GET one target to heal from. And the huge end cost is gonna hurt, since you're not going to be in a big enough group to get any real benefit from a Theft of Essence proc.
Don't get me wrong, I love Dark Armor, but it's the last thing I would choose for a PvP character.
Also, in response to another poster, skipping Death Shroud is a mistake.
Edit: I just noticed the necropost. Well done, well done. You revived a thread and got a serious reply to it 4 years later.
4 years ago Dark Armor was actually a viable PvP set, not the case any longer.
See, it's gems like these that make me check Claws' post history every once in a while to make sure I haven't missed anything good lately.
