k, i have 2 Hecatombs on my tank, there selling for like 100-200mil a pop, so got a question, should i sell them for the 220mil build i want? then after that cheapish build is done, then start saving for the better sets, like the hectombs, etc or should i just keep it...

1) What is your tank's powerset?
2) What power is hecatomb in?
3) Which hecatombs are they?
4) Are you going for any specific set bonuses?

Oh and the answer to all those was still yes.

My suggestion is to wait until just before I16 comes out, and sell your hecatombs, for say 150 million each. Then, a couple months after I16 is out, when the price of purples is back down, buy your hecatombs back for 75 million each.

IF the go down. Theyve only rose in price over the past year or so.

If you dont have any inf, id sell and gets good IO sets for your build and then farm or whatever you do to get the better pieces later. If you have inf, then slot them and keep your build on the up and up. IMO.

Fire/SS/Fire Tanker and i have like 50 Million Influence...

if i could sell all of the sets i have on the guy now on the WW i would get roughly 440 million, my dream build is 2billion, but a good build i know for dmg and recharge is 220mil, and if i cell my 2 hecatomb i would have over 200mil

My feeling in general is that if you need to ask if you should sell them, then yes, you should. That kind of influence can get you so much performance from non-purple IO sets.

I'd strongly second that thought; you can build a very effective and powerful character for not a lot of inf... my soft capped Invuln cost around 10 million in issue 13... looking at today's prices that would run roughly 50 million.

I also just built a BS/Regen scrapper with ED capped damage/recharge on the attacks and ~60% accuracy who also has soft capped melee defense and 25%+ to range & AOE on top of ~600% regen full time; it cost 120 million and I did it a couple of days ago. He's also sitting at 30% global recharge. I'd say that's flirting with tankmage territory; I'm not sure just how much more effective I could get even if I had a billion to dump into him.

For my money hugely expensive builds may look pretty but you can usually get something equally or in some cases actually more effective for far less inf. Out of my 12 level 50 characters I think the most expensive build is my Fire/Rad 'troller; his build cost around 170 million. Most of them were put together for under 50 million and are highly effective.

You have two pieces of a nice set, but keeping or selling them depends on how much you play, how easy it is for you to earn influence.
If that 50mill was a trudge then 200+ will take a long time.

My suggestion, sell the two recipes and be sure to get the posting price right by checking the averages and frequency of sales.
Then while you wait for them to sell, run some AE missions, and use the tickets on silver or bronze lvl 30-34 recipe rolls, take the best of the group and make them into IOs to sell.

In relatively short order you can double whatever you earn for the two purples using that method, and you're on your way to 500mill, which can buy a very sturdy build for your fire/ss if you're discerning about what you buy.

Come back with more questions if you need to, this is a pretty helpful area of the forums.

Funny how "sturdy" builds are defined. You can use common recipes on most builds and be fine. I think IO sets take you from "sturdy" to "great".

Sell em now, when the ability to set spawn size rolls out in the next issue odds are purples will drop in price.
