Trying to get a cousin to reup the game
[ QUOTE ]
Any ideas on a good place (other than AE) where I could take him?
Long story short, he and I both beta'd many games together and used to play most MMOs together, but going for my masters and him generally being overworked (as I once was) resulted in disconnecting over the last couple of years. I'm trying to get him back in this weekend or in the near future, and I'm looking for a place to shake him down.
(He hasn't played CoH since... before ED)
[/ QUOTE ]
So does he have any old characters to play, or will he be doing a trial which limits it to level 14?
If he has higher level characters, work on getting him in Cimeroria (spelling? Gah!). Or head to the shadow shard, or Crotoa.
If he's going to be on a trial account, duo with him in King's Row or Galaxy.
Just my suggestions.

Never been to the Shadow Shard or Croatia, myself, might try that.
Best I remember, he had one of the few dark/dark defenders back in the day when folks hated having dark darks on a team. So, he was... mid twenties? Again, this was when the cap was forty.
I don't remember if his altitis kicked in, but we only had eight slots in those days. :P (I don't remember his other toons, honestly)

If he was raised on a diet of Paragon City recovering from the Rikti War, you should intro him to the RWZ at lvl 35+ - the SECOND Rikti War.
That was one well-done issue.

He won't be able to get into the Shadow Shard if his toon is mid 20's, it's 40+. But YOU should go
And Croatoa, go NAOWWWW (Or at least when you get home from work).
If his toon is 25+ You can also introduce him to Ouroborus, and run some really fun mission through there, including the ones the mendors hand out.

That reminds me, I'm going to have to talk someone into going over the differences between the crash site and RWZ... I've been in there thrice now, and it looks cool. That, and what the Rikti ship raid I see in conversation snipits around.
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. Now I just have to get him in game. :-S

If he is in his 20s, you can also do the 2nd half of the Faultline arcs & Striga Island arcs - at 25+ hit Croatoa...
Also running the Ouroboros arc is fun (25+) & the first Ouro TF.
Moonfire TF in Striga (23-28) & Hess when you get it unlocked (25-30).

Sheesh, looks like I have reading to do in the wiki. I'm totally unfamiliar with most of those zones. I'm still in the mindset of "20 means patrol the far side of TI for inkmen. Mid-twenties find warriors and freaks." :-S
Thanks!

Hrm, I'll show him that, too. I'm worried that it won't immerse him; he's finicky. And, picky. :-S

Actually, just going to Faultline period would be a nice "hey, wasn't this all destroyed" response if he remembers the hazard zone before it got spruced up by the Freedom Phalanx Home Owners Association.
And, re: RWZ: The map's essentially the same as the RCS, but the dynamics are totally different now.

I think the Freedom Horde is scheduled to stop by the Shadow Shard in late October thru early November. Still you can always go by yourself and see the cool sights . You enter it through Fire Base Zulu in Portal Corp in Peregrine Island. As soon as you zone in, you'll see General Hammond (I think that's his name) and he'll have you do some missions to get you used to the zone.
Croatoa: Ghosts, Witches, Wookies, and evil gnomes. Plus 2 Giant Monsters, Plus Sally the resident Loch Ness Monster of the Lake there. How can you not love that zone?

Haha! Thanks!
Aye, reading on that and the "new dynamics" now. Appreciate it.
Edit: darn; looks like last weekend's busy weekend killed my best chance at closing down bombs... but, other than that, take out the those pylons and then raid the ship. Gotcha, cool.

Nah, just keep a sharp eye out for Rikti invasions. They happen everytime someone finishes a Lady Grey TF. It just randomly spawns in different zones, so you need to keep an eye out for which zone it's happening in. Do you have the "Hero Zone Event" (or Villain) messages in your chat box? Those will let you know when an invasion happens.
I know of one group that does a Lady Grey every night of the week around 6-8ish PM Eastern, and I know there are other groups that run them regularly.

Now, that makes a sort of sense... I remember seeing something along the lines of a Hero Zone *Ash mumble* and a Villain Zone *Ash mumble* in the properties when adding the Freedom TF chat. Hrm; thanks.

If he was around before spring 2005, have him run the Mender Silos TF in Ouroboros. (You can solo them, there's no team size minimum, but it IS a TF.) Do the other TFs first to get a feel for Ouroboros, but the Silos TF is the one that will appeal to oldbies' tastes for nostalgia.

Now, there's an idea. Didn't know there wasn't a minimum... other than the TF we ran there a week or so back, I had thought it was a time-stop transfer station and minimarket for the ages. Sorta Nemesis apology for whatever he does in the future.
No one seems to get my "So, buddy... from archvillian to barkeep for the Restaurant at the End of the Universe" jokes; that may be why... guess I should stop spamming "two cents for Milliways" before I go there.
I'll play in there, and see if I don't get a handle on it before the weekend.

Yep add the appropriate one for each toon. They list Rikti invasions, Zombie invasions, Giant Monster sightings, Fires in Steel Canyon, and Troll Raves in Skyway. Great for badging
