Hi. I’m FKeeper, a long-time player on Pinnacle, obviously don’t post much.

I’m a fan of Super Reflexes and have a few scrappers of that kind. One is a Spines, and is it fun! So, long story short, I became obsessed with recharge, while the rest of you just want to soft-cap .

This is my build so far with around 80% recharge. I only have 1 LotG so far but will probably get all 5 sooner or later.

I realize there are no purples, but I be a lazy, poor scrapper, so that’s pretty much out of the question. Any ideas or thoughts? Any other recharge junkies out there?

Two quick observations:

Taking Petrifying Gaze in the dark epic can garner you another +7.5% (which does not count against the LotGs) in 4 slots. Dunno what you'd drop or unslot, though. Not super cheap, but you could get four of them with patience for under 15M + salvage.

You could steal a slot from Lunge (dam/rech, probably), since a full CI "wastes" damage enhancement. That slot could go into Torrent where you could put Kinetic Crash for 7.5% instead of Positron's 6.25. A whole 1.25%.

Opening the build and...shuddering because no softcap. Trying to get over it...

A few other build refinements. You could steal a slot from Buildup (1 sec difference), the Dmg/Recharge slot from Throw Spines (a .27 sec difference).

I would also drop the Tempered Readiness Range/Slow for the End/Rech/Slow (as you don't need the range or slow but need the end redux) and sub out the dmg IO in Impale for whichever Thunderstrike triple you think you need most (probably the one without recharge). I'd put the Scirroco's dmg/end in place of the dmg/rech.

I know, a world without a soft cap! I get along just fine though (for the most part). I certainly don't try to solo any Pylons though.

Thanks for the advice. That's a good idea about taking those slots out for another place. In regards to Tempered, I'm pretty sure I don't have the Slow/Range on my real build but accidentally put in on Mid's.

I guess the best part of this build is that I just mow through mobs. Build Up+Throw Spines+ Spine Burst for one mob. Throw Spines+Spine Burst+Throw Spines for second. Rinse. Repeat. But that's if I live ha.

Couple questions about recharge. I know I'm pretty close to perma hasten but am not quite there. What's the magic number for that?

Also, is it possible to ever have enough recharge for Perma Elude? Tinkering around on Mid's, I got up to 212.5% Recharge. That's pretty amazing but according to Mid's, still not enough for Perma Elude.

Honestly you're making way too many sacrifices to achieve such high recharge and you'll never achieve permanent elude even with 8 kinetic defenders, it just isn't possible due to your recharge cap. You'll need 90% global recharge bonuses from inventions and 20% from quickness to achieve permanent hasten. Here is the build that I've done for you while respecting power placement and powers. It has more recharge and more defense.

Well, soloing you can constantly be at the softcap, since you're munching mobs you can always have a purple eaten thanks to the combine three rule.

Thanks. That build looks great! I think Obliterations in Spine Burst and switching out to Petrifying Gaze will help a lot.

I've been working on a Spines/SR of my own recently. The build I've got planned for him has 1.3% less recharge than your initial build (which still will give him permahasten), but it has space in Health to put all 3 Healing Set Uniques (rather than having it full of Doctored Wounds), and has soft-capped defenses (since I eschewed Elude, Torrent, and a real Travel Power in favor of the Fighting pool). Like I said, he doesn't have a real travel power, but I had a couple "free" slots (that I should probably actually put in Tough if I ever plan to run it), so I put those in Hurdle and my Jump Speed is equal to unslotted SJ. Might not be your thing, but *shrug* have a look.
