"Combat Monitor"? What is this?

I've heard people mention it. I've seen it in screenshots. But I have no idea how to turn the thing on or what it does precisely.

It's that little window that displays your stats. I've noticed it seems customizable, in that you can choose which stats to show and which ones to omit.

I appologize if I seem vague in my description, hopefully you'll know what I'm talking about. Sort of noobish to ask about this, but I never knew it existed until recently. So...How does it work/How do I turn it on?

Open up your combat attributes screen (from Powers then the Combat Attributes at the top of that menu.) Look for anything you want to monitor, right click on it and select "Monitor this attribute" or something to that effect.

Click on your power tray to bring up the window displaying your primary/secondary/etc list of powers.
Click on the title of that.
You should then see the option to open combat attruibutes.

(away from game, so going off memory, may be a right click on the powers window)

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Once in the combat attributes window you can right click on any of the categories and monitor them. There is a limit to how many you can monitor though. I don't know what it is since I usually only monitor a couple. Exp to next level and Inf.

Ranged Def and Smashing Resist are two good ones to have up so you can see how threatened you are from enemy attacks. If a bunch of assault rifles have debuffed your Def down to -30, you're going to be taking a lot more damage than normal over the next few seconds. If your Resistance has been debuffed, any hits that land are going to matter a lot more.

Last Hit Chance will let you know how threatened an enemy is by you (and how well you've slotted your powers). It's entirely reasonable to be at the 95% Hit Chance cap all the time. If you're not, slot some more Acc. Also, if you are suddenly swinging at 35% against that purple-con boss, it may be time to choose discretion over valor.

Thanks for the info. I'll be able to figure it out from here, I'm sure. It was just a matter of finding out how to turn it on.

I almost always monitor the following:

Experience to next level (I like to do the math to calculate how many minions I have left before I ding...)
Damage Bonus (To note when I am debuffed, or to monitor Build-up/Rage/AAO/Defiance)
Recharge Bonus (To note when I am debuffed, or to monitor Speed Boost/AM)
To Hit Bonus (To note when I am debuffed)
Melee Defense (To note when I am debuffed, or to monitor Invincibility/Parry/Phalanx Fighting)
Smashing Resistance (To note when I am debuffed, or to monitor SR resists)
Last Hit Chance (So I can tell if I'm not at 95% for some reason)

Then depending on my specific AT or powerset I add in others such as regeneration rate for my Willpower/Regen toons, positional/typed defenses for my defense-based characters, or stealth radius for characters with stealth powers.
