DM/SR Conundrum.

Hi there folks,

DM/SR was my first Scrapper back in I3. I made it to about 28, and then got into Defenders.

I'm back at it, starting from scratch.

This is a tight, tight, build and it's almost where I want it to be, generic IO wise--but I had to skip Touch of Fear to fit all of the SR powers in. (I know most people like to approach the soft cap, and drop Elude, but for now I want to keep it for the "hero moment"). The thing that's driving me crazy is Touch of Fear has that sweet, sweet to-hit debuff that works so well with SR, and is great for difficult targets.

My question is this: With Dark Consumption in the build, is Conserve Power ulitmately necessary for the Elude crash? I play out both scenarios in my head: Elude crash, pop blue, conserve power, re-toggle, continue. Elude crash, pop blue, pop Dark Consumption, re-toggle, hope to god your endurance holds out with no recovery until everyone is arrested.

Reasoning it out here, it sounds like the first option is best, and I'll have to wait 'til I softcap, drop Elude, and possibly Conserve Power to take Touch of Fear, and some other goody. But I really like the superheroness of Elude.

How long does the negative recovery last? Mid's doesn't say.

Do any of you DM/SR players out there not use Touch of Fear? If you do, where do you fit it? Do you wait 'til you're softcapped to drop Elude?

Any insight or advice would be appreciated!

I do not use Touch of Fear.
As you reach the softcap numbers, ToF will end up just being a waste of time.
I guess it could be useful against enemies with a tohit buff,
Also, I never took Elude on my DM/SR.

Thanks, Vitality. I know that as you approach the soft-cap, the to-hit debuffs become pretty meaningless. At 50, I will probably work on softcapping the build, and drop elude. But my build prior to that will still see some benefit from Touch of Fear. How often do you find you are using Dark Consumption? Is it a quality of life power, or necessary due to the endurance consumption of the build?

Maybe I'll drop DC for Touch of Fear on the way up.

Maybe I should just play the build and figure it out for myself as I go along, too. Heh.

Well the use of DC depends on your build...your recovery rate and your endurance use and how you slot your attacks.

I run 9 toggles...I basically use DC everytime it's up...unless i have a recovery buff from teammates.
I also have Conserve Power but I try to use that as little as possible.

Yeah I'm sure you won't need to run 9 toggles. I don't have to run all 9...but I do because I have the endurance and recovery tools to do so.

I don't use Touch of Fear. I hear it's great while leveling up. I didn't bother. I'm soft-capped, so no Elude. I tried Elude out before I was at the soft cap, and hated it.

If you have Dark Consumption, you aren't likely to need Conserve Power for regular play. I have both, but I'm soloing AVs without inspirations. On the other hand, you won't likely need Elude for normal play. I think you're much better off popping a purple to put yourself at the soft cap than popping Elude then using inspirations to recover from the crash.

In normal play, I use Dark Consumption and Conserve Power very rarely, so in theory, I could probably make do without either in normal play.

I don't use ToF in my build, never had it, and don't miss it... [I do have in currently on my DM/Regen]

I make use of DC but its rather infrequent, my recovery is pretty decent and I don't normally need it, unless I'm running sprint.
