If you are going to use merits for random rolls, keep in mind that the two best rolls to get a Miracle is the 35-40 and 40-45 rolls.
The 35-40 roll has 68 recipes in the pool, and thee 40-45 roll has 66 recipes. Statistically speaking, these give you the best odds. You can also do gold rolls, or hope to get lucky off of boss drops.
If you want a lot of merits, i suggest joining your server's global channels and keeping an eye out for any tf's that are forming, ouroboros missions, and GM hunts.

Thank you all for your input. I am going the merit rout by going to the ouroboros and do the mission there staring with the lowiest ones.
