Draw Animations for all.

Now don't jump to conclusions. I am not suggesting giving weapons to every powerset nor am I suggesting creating a draw time for all characters.

I have just been thinking about this over the years and I think that now (with Power Customization looming on the horizon) would be the right time for it.

Have you ever noticed how when a Fire Blaster/Corr hits an attack power when not targeting anything his hands light up with fire in a nice combat stance draw type animation? The same thing happens for anyone using Energy Melee or an Energy Manipulation attack.

I've always wondered, why do these two powersets do that when no others do? So, what I am suggesting is a similar draw type animation for every powerset that is not a weapon set. This way players will be able to display their Power Colors without being in combat.

Energy Blasters can draw their customized Yellow energy.

Ice Blasters could display their customized Pink ice.

... and so on. I just think it's a nice out of combat effect and I would like to see more of it.

What do you think?

This change would totally unbalance PvP.

How so? It wouldn't add any draw time. It would just display a power effect when an attack is pressed when there is no target.

You know, so you can get screen shots of your character looking kool using his powers without having some dumb NPC getting in the way?

Check out your Fire Blaster/Corr or Energy Melee character and check it out. It doesn't add draw time.

I don't know. I'm sure it would though, because PvP is wobbly like that.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

This isn't special to Energy Melee and Fire Blast for the reasons you believe. The animation which takes you into combat stance is the standard one you go into even if you didn't have an effect. However, Energy Melee and Fire Blast have persistent effects that stay on your hands whenever a power from the set is queued. I suspect Fire Blast's fade, but Energy Melee's most certainly persist. If other sets had persistent effects, they would play them in much the same way. Unfortunately, it doesn't make sense for all powersets. Say, Super Strength or Martial Arts or Sonic Blast.

Now, with that said I'm not opposed to having a "power draw" emote that would play something specific to either your primary or secondary. Weapon- and power-specific emotes are something I've always wanted to see.

Yeah, I could see leaving the more Natural flavor powersets (Super Strength, Martial Arts, etc.) out of it. But I'd really like to see this "persistent power effect" for more of the energy and elemental powersets (Electrical Blasts, Energy Blasts, Ice Blasts, Dark Blasts, etc.).

I know it's a really little thing. It doesn't affect combat or give us anything extra powerwise, but it would definitely add a bit of kool factor, IMO.

I'd go for it, sure.

But then where do we draw the line here? Just attack sets? Only elemental? Control sets too? What about Force Fields?
