I recommend Black Scorpion for the Mace Mastery patron set.
There are 2 very nice powers (at least) in the set.
First, Web Envelope is fantastic. It is an area effect immobilize. That will prevent the bad guys from running and scattering. That helps a lot. Also, it prevents them running but does NOT prevent them from being knocked around (IIRC). This is a good thing. All your soft control (knockback and knockdown) from your pets should still do exactly what you expect.
Second, the Scorpion Shield is defense-based, so it stacks well with your Force Field Generator and makes life safer.
After that, at levels 47 and 49, you could consider the Leadership pool for Maneuvers (more stacking defense for you and the pets) and Tactics (more accuracy and a perception bonus).

Yeah, I saw that defense shield and was mighty tempted just from that. You wouldn't take assault over manuevers? I thought MM maneuvers was pretty weak, and my pets are already pretty high.
I agree that maneuvers on a MM is pretty weak. Fully slotted it will give you just over 5% defense. I don't think it's worth it, and you've got better places to put slots.
Grab assault and put one end reduc in it. Too bad you won't be able to six slot tactics for the gaussian set bonus.

This is what I was going by. I think he assumed you'd take the AoE Immob and then the shield.

It's worth it on Thugs/Traps, because the Thugs will have high defense already. 5% more defense when you're already in the 35-40% range is a big help.

So the consensus is Web Envelope, Scorpion Shield, Maneuvers, Tactics?
So, I have all my traps powers, and everything in thugs, except the straight up attacks. I have CJ/SJ and 3/4 of the fitness pool. I just hit 41.... What do I do?
Leadership? Patron pools? Other power pools? Hasten? What patron? I dont know the patrons that well, with relatively few high level villains, and especially dont know the MM patrons, aside from whats on wiki and mids... Opinions and advice appreciated
