Spines/Fire Build Critique
Heh.. pretty interesting build... though I'd never go with that build IF I were you =x
Ok, you have me intrigued. Can you elaborate?
Is it the powersets, the powerchoices, the slotting?
Well the main reason I wouldn't go with your build is b/c I'm more of a PvPer.
(though I still do PvE a lot.)
Other reason I wouldn't vote for your build would be more of how you slot your powers than power choices, since literally every combo(i'm even counting pool power sets too).
I'll send you a build if I get back home =/
Nothing particularly wrong with it, but like TheGodofGods said, I would never use that build.
My reasoning: You took a power set with already weak ST damage and made it non-existent. Lunge is completely unslotted and you didn't even TAKE Impale (which I consider one of the best powers in the set)
I would never invite this character to help me kill an AV simply because of the complete lack of single target damage. (For that matter, if I'm fighting an AV, a Spines/Fire will be the LAST scrapper I invite if I have options, and I have one myself, so it's not set-prejudice)
You will mow through minions and maybe LTs with ease, but single hard targets will give you problems. One such problem being that when you only have one target your edurance efficiency goes in the dumper, AoEs have higher endurance usage because they are designed to hit multiple targets, and generally tend to do lower damage than ST attacks as well. If you're using Spine Burst and Throw Spines on an AV with no ST options available to you, you are basically wasting endurance.

1) You're trading too much damage for procs, especially in your auras. Slot 2 daa/end and 2 acc/dam/end and the procs in them so you maximize damage. I'm not a fan of proccing auras but it's up to you.
2) The FF +recharge in ripper will do almost nothing to you.
3) YOU WANT FIERY EMBRACE.
4) Try to max damage in Spine Burst.
5) Burn has low accuracy.

I question the accuracy of this statement. I'm pretty sure Burn is auto-hit if they are within it's radius. I don't recall even being able to SLOT for accuracy outside of sets.

Yup you're right, I didn't look, I went by Mid's saying it has 75% acc. I never noticed that since I picked burn late when I was IO'ing my SS/Fire Brute and ended up with some acc due to set usage...
I went for End Recovery and Melee Defense myself. I'm not sure I'm going to like it but I'm going to give it a shot. I also dropped Impale for Caltrops. I think burn will do a lot more than Impale but some play testing will confirm this. I could always just drop Temperature Protection and pickup Impale as well.
EDIT: But that may [censored] up my slotting so it'd probably be Caltrops or Impale anyway.
The +rech and +acc that came out of this build aren't too bad either.

When I picked spines/fire, I wanted a lawnmower, not a precision cutting tool (dark/sr). It looked like spines/fire plays much like electric melee - pitiful single target damage with good AoE potential. On a large team, an AoE heavy build shines, and this is where I want to use it. I will admit, if scrappers had superstrength, it would be a SS/fire for good ST and AoE damage. (replace good with ridiculously awesome)
I wasn't impressed with lunge, and the slow animation time and baseball throw of impale got annoying after a while. I asked a few people if impale was all that essential, and was told it was mostly for getting runners. I figured the epic can do the same thing with faster animations.
Force Feedback in Footstomp fires often. I wondered if it would do the same in ripper and torrent.

It's only a 10% chance to fire per target, that's why it works well in Footstomp. It may also work well in E. Torrent if you manage to hit lots of targets with it, but not so much in Ripper where you'll probably hit 2 or 3 targets tops. YMMV but I think the proc in torrent is enough. IIRC the proc has a 10 sec cooldown (or 5 sec) where it cannot stack so if you use Energy Torrent a lot the proc is completely wasted on Ripper.
It procs pretty often in torrent, haven't tried it in ripper.
Hello, I'm relatively new to playing with scrappers, but a brute veteran, and I'm currently working on a spines/fire build. The expensive uniques will be added over time and are not critical to the build.
Any feedback on powerchoices, IO slotting/sets is greatly appreciated.
Some of the slotting may appear unusual. I was actually looking to cap my fire resistance without dipping into temp protection. I also know I'm missing out on a great +dmg power. I could possibly drop ROTP for it. We'll see.
