Maybe someone else can answer that question. I would suggest a high recharge soft-capped Dark/Shield build for the most long-term sustained damage. Dark as the mitigation and end recovery to survive a drawn-out fight. Soft-capped builds will help matters.
I have 1 KB IO slotted. I assume that pylons do silly mag **** you knockback and I'm screwed. Am I mistaken?

Yes. They don't KB most tanks, so 12 points (3 KB IOs) should be enough.
Edit: I've just remembered - my Fire/Fire tank has tanked pylons on raids and never been KB'd. He has 3 steadfasts.
I'm putting up the dps to wreck the pylons in sufficient time. I'm able to survive the attacks pretty easily. However, every 5 seconds or so I get knocked back and in the time it takes me to get up it regenerates enough to nullify my dps...
