Should I try changing the target from .exe to .prv???

Copy the updater (the .exe itself, don't make a shortcut to it) to your desktop.
Run the desktop updater.
Tell it to install to your CoX folder.
Delete the updater and all its extra junk it downloads to your desktop when you're done.
It's trying to update itself, but it's running, so it can't do that. :/

Did you actually go into your installation folder and copy the updater to your desktop? or did you make a copy of the shortcut already on your desktop....

F:\Program Files\City of Heroes and copyed to desktop no shortcut.

Keep the CoHUpdater.exe on your desktop. Alternately, you can redownload a copy from here: http://download.cityofheroes.com/US/CoH_NA_Setup.exe, and put it on your desktop.
Search for and rename or kill outright all other CoHUpdater.??? on the system, both drives.
Reboot the machine.
Re-run the desktop CoHUpdater.exe and all *should* be well... but I've been fooled before.

When I try to start the updater I receive this message.
Need help to be able to play. I was able to get on last week.
Nothing new was installed, or upgraded.
No ideas, should I redo my updater?
Would like to play tonight. Anything?
