Ice/Thorn?
I didn't see much synergy at first, but then I thought about it and you could actually do pretty well with this. You can get enemies in your thorntrops for the whole duration using ice slick + some slows, I think. Plus it would look pretty funny to see guys falling down onto your thorntrops.
Ice is well suited for a close up playstyle, so to better leverage the cone you might wanna pick up combat jumping + hurdle. I actually use fly on my dom because it's fun, but CJ + Hurdle is definitely very useful to AoE.
Active (Freedom): Setna (Ice/Psi Dom), Arram (WP/KM Tank), Tesmiel (Elec/SS Tank), Astredax (Robot/Dark Mastermind), Operative Vidali (melee fortunata)

Quick question though, how exactly would CJ+Hurdle help AoE?
I got a lvl50 ice/thorn (pre AE & no farms). He is still one of my favorite characters. I've been using mine mainly for PvP but does great in PvE also.

Especially with Cones, they'll help with positioning yourself. They're not suppressed like Super Speed or Super Jump are.

I was inspired by the new dom changes to, of course, make a new dom. But, I wanted a dom that was truly unique (not /psi) that is fun to play, yet doesn't sacrifice actual playability.
I arbitrarily chose Ice/Thorn, which seems like a nice combo with many slows for PvE and PvP. Unfortunately, I don't have sufficent experience of doms outside of the earth one I play.
Is this a sane combo? Any suggestions? If not this, what other unique combos work well together?

I have yet to see any high lvl Ice/Thorn. I would say this is probably the rarest combo along with Gravity/Thorn.
I have a lvl 50 Fire/Thorn thinking that Aim can help Flashfire's accuracy problem and it indeed helps.
I don't see too many synergies between Ice/Thorn but hey, you want a "unique" combo so go for it!
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
It's a solid combo. Both sets have several Melee oriented powers so it's good to operate from there.

Yeah, I've got a lvl 50 Ice/Thorn and I have to agree. Great combo for melee fighting.
Arctic Air along with the melee attacks works well, too bad AA has such a high end cost to run. I had to focus a bit on endrdx and some +recovery bonuses for it to be to my liking but well worth it.
