Fart comic pages battle contest- suggestion..

rules:

combatants each chose one hero/villian to use to fight against each other..

..then one combatant makes one or more comic pages (* no less then 5 panels *) featuring there character fighting the opponent..

..afterwards, the other combatant make the next few comic pages... and ect ect...

..main rule is that you cant mangle the other persons fighter so badly that they cant have a way to fight back when its there turn...


.....err.. well those are the general outlines... anyone interested in doing this??

I actually had this come up on another forum I browse and while it's an interesting idea, I fear that too many people here are over sensitive of their characters, so you'd either get someone beating the snot out of their opponent for 5 panels, or the reverse and having them get beaten up for 5 panels. Either way, the natural progression of the battle is disrupted.

Also, a change in scenery could spell doom for artists who weren't good at that particular background. Moving the fight into a crowded subway, an open train yard or a green city park might be too much for certain people.

The concept is totally cool and the idea of seeing your characters battling it out amongst themselves is great, but the ideal will likely give way to the reality. Each person is going to have different ideas about how it should go. Then how do you end it?

What if you used a signature villain, with the preset idea that each hero is beaten in turn. In the end, you do a "2-page splash" of all heroes rallying together to beat the snot out of Recluse or whoever.

ONLY artists can participate.

You could offer to swap characters for their individual battles and vote amongst yourselves someone to layout the splash with each artist contributing the final pencils on either their own character or the one they drew for the 5-page panel.

This way you get an epic battle, each hero gets 5 panels to kick and be kicked in various ways (decided by the artist or in collaboration with the character owner) and a final cool battle royal with the foregone conclusion that the villain gets his @$$ kicked.

Might I throw this out for the chopping block as this format is something that is done on Deviant Art quite a bit (well, enough that I know about it without being a DA...er..."one who sells their soul for the extensive rights to hound, surf, and overtly enjoy in excess" type of person).

Take all entrants that are willing to participate and divide them randomly against each other so everyone is paired equally (unfortunately has to be an even number of contestants). Each contestant in the first round creates a battle between their character and their opponents character, the outcome of that artists battle entirely up to them. If they feel they would be able to defeat/win in the fight, that is how they draw it out. They must take into account the other character's abilities against their own and be fair in how the fight would play out however. Then, after a given period of time to develop their pieces, each artist would post their "fight" against their opponent and then a panel of judges (or an open vote) would determine which of the two fights feels best represented between Art, Story Telling, and Fairness to the Characters. The contestant who wins between each pairing moves (with their character) on to the next round until there is only one final winner.

..ive just been thinking that the Fart contest is helping me a lot with single images... so a comic page contest would help with comic page and panel layout..

As soon as the FArt wars is over/ or i get eliminated and i have some time to give this. i'm totally down for that. and i'm willing to subject any of my heroes/villains to a good beat down. provided that they don't get beaten in 5 panels or less.
