Updater Warning: can't delete bin.pigg

I keep getting this message when I attempt to start COH. It runs the updater, downloads the patch, and when it tries to apply the patch, it fails with the following warning. "Updater Warning: Can't delete file c:\coh/piggs/bin.pigg some other program has it open! Aborting!"

As far as I can tell, this isn't true. I've tried rebooting and searching for any process to no avail. This isn't the first time I've had this problem. In the past, rebooting has solved the issue. I just assumed some cryptically named zombie process was locking the file, but no luck. Any suggestions.

I was able to fix this by opening the offending files using "get info" and "unclicking" the Locked box.

It seems one can only do that on a mac, since I can find no "get info" on my XP. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do? Having the same issue as OP.

I had this problem. Someone else in the forums pointed out the issue. For some reason, the permissions on the files are messed up preventing you from deleting the files and moving in new ones when patching. I changed the permissions manually to fix the problem.

Open a Terminal window (the Unix shell prompt):

cd /Applications/City of Heroes.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming
chmod -R a+rw c_drive

See if that makes things better for you. There's probably a way to do this in the Finder GUI, but I'm a Unix geek, so this is fine for me.

I am having the same issue and do not have a mac, and the code you posted does not work for me since i have apparently different directories. cuppa, i only have one coh account and only one user i log into on the computer and in checking the properties of the pigg file i have access and ability to edit across the board with users even though im only signing in (and only ever sign in to my computer under my user profile) It would be nice to get some help on this cause i havent been able to log in for over a week and there were no precepitating factors, it just started happening on its own.
