Lookover my Fire/Fire Build?
I'm planning on bringing my Fire/Fire tank out of mothballs soon. He's 37 now and built for defense based on the enhancements available in i10. With the changes to defensive numbers and the addition of Obliteration, I'm working on a new build and am fairly happy with the prospects of the build below. 44+% melee defense seems nice to me.
Some will decry the lack of BU, and it's certainly to be determined whether I can sustain the endurance hit of having Obliteration in all of my AOE's without Consume. I do have both of the Recovery procs (they were in my previous build) and the Atlas medallion, which helps. I can add a Performance Shifter +Endurance to Stamina if I need to.
We'll see how it goes.

Ouch, no Consume? That's one of the nice perks to have as a Fire Tank, and you dropped it? At the very least, it's probably worth dropping the one extra slot of defense in Combat Jumping (it's getting you a whopping .5% defense) to slot in Stamina. As it stands, you're at 1.75% end recovery without Consume. My build that I posted earlier is at 2.01% when I have all my toggles running, and I still need Consume for drawn out fights. That doesn't happen too often, but it's nice to have when you need it.
And another ouch, and you're adding Hasten to that mix. If you can make it work, go ahead, but I like not having to worry about my endurance much when I'm running. Probably won't need Healing Flames much with that much defense, at least (unless you're fighting a mob that likes staying at range).

Yeah, like I said I'm not convinced I'll be able to keep this build due to the endurance issues. I definitely expect to have to add a slot to Stamina for the PS proc.
As for Hasten, that is very much up in the air. I'm waffling quite a bit on that power. I could easily see myself going BU, or maybe even Consume, although switching to Consume would require some rearranging so it could be properly slotted.
Thanks for the note on CJ, I'm not sure why I had that second defense IO in there. I think that was a mistake.
Thanks for the thoughts.
a defensive fire/fire works..i prefer to leave the "tanking" to one of my other tanks..and i build fire/fire more offensively..
i just go for recharge first. with healing flames coming back so fast you dont really need defense.. but more importantly with alot of recharge you can fire off your bread n butter power (FSC) more often.

Consume is one of the reasons Fire Armor works (not to mention it's a great place to stick a full Obliteration set and get that fatty defense bonus).
Also consume is an AOE ... so it just adds to your damage output.
when your close to 4 recovery you dont need it..just fyi
What, 4% for end? Sure, then it'd be superfluous, but for those of those without it... Consume is quite nice. And that's going to be the case for most Fiery Aura tankers.

Jthig32,
Dont forget you have dual builds now.
NO reason to not make a more offensive build and keep your defensive build. Simply switch between depending on team makeup.
Teaming with 2 ff bubblers - go offensive
Teaming with a kin and a bunch of blasters - go defensive.
I dropped consume on my defensive build, kept it on my offensive build.

i went the opposite..i used consume on my defensive build cause i was able to place multistrikes in it..or obliterations can be placed.
however my farm build has no consume since i maxed out on so much recovery he doesnt run out of end.

This is like saying when you have a Ferrari you don't need to take the bus anymore.
For the 99.9% of the other Fire Tankers out there who don't have 4/s recovery, take Consume. You'll be glad you did.
not really..for all those that make a plan..mine was recharge and recov..
others choose defense..others choose damage...all depending on your plan

I think this is the most helpful and non-idiotic post you've ever made that I've seen to date.
I don't hate on your for having billions on inf. I think you're just arrogant and can't comprehend how social circles work. That being said, this was a vast improvement over your other posts.
You managed to say something without insulting anyone and realized that one could go in many different directions.
Congratz Coldmed.

Anyone with half a brain can see that his toon is a tricked out PvP build ( 6 slotted BU and Taunt? ) for more money than most people could ever afford ( thx WW PvP pirateering and PvP BB sploits ) This thread was for generic FireFire build that a normal person could use and afford. Brakners build might not be as uber as your WoW mentality toon , but at least the average player could afford it for under 50 mil. I actually had to go all Multi Strikes because I couldnt afford Obliterations and still tanked ITF. I guess I am not leet like you.

Looking at the original post, I saw NOTHING stating 'cheap' builds, or even a defensive build.
I 6 slot taunt and to hit, not into pvp, for the VERy nice +def bonuses in there. More +def than an attack offers. I use the SAME slotting
plus, people asked coldmed for his build. I did in another thread (ideas for my fire/ice), so it was nice he posted.
In fact the original post was 'how is my fire/fire build'. Not defensive, not offensive, not mixed.
Hate coldmed, love coldmed, the truth is, coldmed knows how to play his tanks.
