Damage Badges
afk farming
It's kinda ironic, isn't it? They put in safeguards to prevent people from exploiting it, but then it becomes the only way to get the badge. lol
BTW.. I'm sure you'll find plenty of posts about this in the Badge Forum.
The main problem appears to be that damage which doesn't impact your base hit points doesn't count. This doesn't just affect farming - it affects normal play and negates most of the damage actually taken. "Working as intended" doesn't mean they planned it this way. It just means it's not considered a bug. I think it should be.

Appreciate the input both of you. I'll both check into the Badges forum and I completely agree with your comment Ironblade that they didn't plan it very well.
Ugh
Hello all, I'm a 60 month vet of the game and most recently been playing on Freedom (lot of brutage going on there!). Rampaag is one of my lvl50 brutes on Freedom. Actually, he's been a lvl50 brute for all of 2009. Recently, I've been going back and working on some of the accolades/kill badges that I haven't gotten yet with this character. The main one is the Born in Battle accolade which, as most know, gives a permanent increase to max health and max end.
One of the required badges is the one for 10,000,000 damage received. I've been playing this character for a long time yet when I checked, he's only aquired 2.3M of the needed 10M! WTH right? Once I noticed the seemingly low number, I started watching the counter (shown when you mouse over the badge in the list). It doesn't advance AT ALL unless my character is at or below about 50% of his health.
Here is support's response to the issue I posted:
Hello,
At this time, this aspect of gameplay is functioning as intended by the game developers. There are several safeguards built into the system that will not count credit toward any of the damage badges under certain conditions, such as remaining in one location and receiving damage while maintaining an effectively invulnerable state. These safeguards were implemented to help prevent exploiting. If you would like to suggest to the game developers that this be changed in any way, please post your thoughts to the City of Heroes forums at http://boards.cityofheroes.com.
Please be sure to let us know if you have any other questions by updating this ticket.
Regards,
Really? Rampaag is a brute, he has high defense and high hit points. Worse yet, he's a willpower secondary and fully IO'd out so his regen is crazy. I can understand that the devs don't want people "afk farming" their damage badges but honestly, why in the $%^& would they intentionally prevent active players from earning rewards inside the game?
Someone might say, it's because of all your IOs, they're boosting your health/regen... yes. they are! The devs WOULD'NT honestly say, "spend countless hours/game credits on enhancing your character," only to then counter with, "sorry, your enhancements prevent you from obtaining meaningful rewards in game... would they?
Support says, "working as intended," but I'm calling bull#$%^. Why would the devs construct a means of preventing this form of "afk farming" that also prevented ACTIVE players from earning any rewards?
Devs? Any comment?
To the rest of the community, since I am unlikely to get any official response: Someone please explain how in the hell you were able to obtain this badge since apparently the devs don't think I should be earning credit for all the damage that I do receive.
Anyone? Thanks in advance for any replies,
-Rampaag
