Personal request for something a friend is doing

I dunno if it's feasible to do this, but say I got a friend whose daughter is up for a contest and is in need of online votes, is it alright for me to come here and ask for voters?

Had a player do that on guardian for some contest... "cutest baby in sometown USA". The player base really stepped up and got the kiddo to the final 5! Make sure you include a linky!

My friend's daughter is a top 10 finalist for that duct-tape prom dress contest at Stuck At Prom website. The link to the finalists' voting page is here. Her costume is left column, second to last down, number 232. You're allowed to vote once a day, and the contest runs to July 2nd.
