I did the cheaper dinner route... I grilled steaks that my mom bought . :-p
But my dad enjoyed it, just having me there. The fact that he didn't have to cook was a bonus. hehe

After dinner, we harped on the guy who borked my jeep (incessantly) and played Euchre. Good times, good times...

My dad passed away about 10 years ago. 
I called my sister yesterday, though, and shared some of the good stories about him. 
I miss him...
VA, I feel that way about my Mom. She died in May 2005. My parents were divorced when I was 5, so my whole life it was just me & Mom (and my maternal grandparents). With all 3 of them gone, I felt like an orphan.... EXCEPT... my Mom's last husband is actually who I call Dad. He's been a great Dad, too.
I called him yesterday before he went to church.... then went over and did the yard work on my Mom's (empty) house. That was my gift to him. 
Happy father's day to all our Protector parents.
And if you haven't yet... Call your dad!
