unable to get past login screen
You've given us very little information to work with.
I'd recommend starting with Zloth's ++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++ thread that is stickied in this forum.
Secondly, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Thirdly, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Not to much information to give. Double click COH icon; it loads up normally to the password screen. Type password, and I get a message that the game client can not connect to the login server and that the server may be down or my firewall may be blocking it; neither of which is true. I haven't done anything to my computer in months and was playing normally this morning. Here is CoH helper info, if that helps anything.

Update Vista to SP2.
Update Video card drivers.
The following line has me curious, so I'll quote it here in case any of the others miss seeing it on first glance as I almost did:

Updated Vista to SP2 and updated vid card drivers. Nada happened. On the plus side...at least I'm able to catch up on my comic books.....
If you updated to the 186.16 drivers, uninstall them and then install the 185.85 drivers from here.
There have been reports that the 186.16 drivers have problems on Vista or Windows 7 that the 185.85 drivers didn't have.
EDIT: Also still waiting for the HijackThis logs.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Did as you suggested, game client still unable to connect to log in. Ah well, guess on Monday I'll shoot off a question to Cryptic, see if they can figure it out. Thanks anyways.
Don't send anything to Cryptic, they'll just laugh themselves silly and you'll get no assistance.
Cryptic has had 0 to do with the game for a little over a year andf a half.
Try filing a Support Ticket here under the Ask A Question tab.

Yeah...I knew that...honest....<cough><cough>. Ah well, I like to make people laugh. Anyways, turns out copying the Updater from another machine fixed (or at least bypassed) the problem.
Last few hours I get as far as the log in screen, type in password, then several seconds later get a pop up that I can't log on. Worked ok this morning and I've done nothing to my system today. Using windows vista. Any ideas?
