Because it's trademarked or "profane" usually. What kinds of names are you trying?

Mistress Elektra, it's the name of one of my characters. I don't THINK it's trademarked... I used the name of my friend's character and that worked fine.
Elektra is a Marvel character.

The Marvel character is named Elektra, and has been around since the 80s I think. For purposes of your arc, try altering the name a little like "Elekktra" or "Elektraa" or something I guess? "E. Lektra"?

The toon name filter works differently from the AE filter. Also if the toon predates Marvel's lawsuit, the name might not have been in the filter when you made her. And as long as you're not a ninja who wears a lot of red, there would be no reason to generic your toon.

Why do I keep getting 'Invalid name, please choose another.' I get that for every name I type in! Any ideas?
EDIT: Sorry, that was vague. I'm trying to create a custom character as a rescue, and I'm getting frustrated with it.
