MM Patron Power Deliberation/Feedback

Soon I'm going to be 40 and I've been toiling over the patron power pool decision for which arc I want to obtain.

At first I was going to go with Mu Mastery, because the electricity fits with his Technology/Android hybrid origins. However Most everything is Cone/Foe. I'm leaning heavily on Mace Mastery after some deliberating on the skills. The immobilize is AOE (area target) which is fine, and the skills have -fly, and the self buff has the same defense bonuses as MU + toxic resistance.

Basically for my playstyle I'm a Mastermind who is always bodyguarding. I use Forcefields to reduce the incoming damage even further. I also use a couple diff tactics <ul type="square">[*]I'll knockdown the enemy, send my bots in to attack; just before I take damage I hit the defense/follow macro[*]use Presence to maintain melee aggro and let the bots go to town.[*]hide bots around the corner with stay/passive to pull the mob into a more strategic location and then unleash the mayhem (ambush per se)[/list]Without having experience with just looking at them on paper, I'm wary of getting stuck with something I don't like. Given my playstyle, which ones would you choose and why? It doesn't have to be MU or Mace specifically those are just the two I'm currently leaning towards.

Well, for starters, you won't get stuck with something you won't like. You can now respec out of the pool. So don't worry about that.

I understand that, I just don't want to waste a respec because I plan on respeccing for the purpose of getting patron power pools and streamlining my current choices a tad more.

Well, I've played Mace, and it's not bad - are you considering Power Boost, as well?

There's also Soul, if you're looking at the shields - SM/Le/Neg/Tox - which also comes with OG. Anything gets too close, minion or (often, in my experience) LT rank, it's stunned, which will help deal with that aggro as well. IIRC Tentacles has no KB resist - which you may see as a good thing, or not.

I'd probably lean Mace in your case.

That depends on how power boost works. If it works similarly to a dom where you power it up then cast it and it buffs you for a short time sure. But if its just a cast it whenever you want and it has a static cooldown, I'm not sure I'd use it that much when my bots are waylaying everything anyway.

It might be useful for tough fights where theres 5+ guys comeing from everywhere and you need everything immobilized, but how often does one get more than 5 guys? I typically get around 5 at a time. The only times I've ran into more than 5 are those pesky Rikti Comm officers. I've been in fights where I have 5 on me and 5 more run out of that dang portal and never seem to stop coming.

Since you've used it you'd have more insight into its usefulness than I have.

Power boost is a simple recharge and click buff. No building up involved.

Snagging the description from the wiki:

Power Boost

Greatly boosts the secondary effects of your powers. Your powers effects like Disorients, Holds, Immobilizes, Heals, Defense Buffs, Endurance Drains, Knockbacks and more, are all improved. The effects of Power Boost last a short while, and only the next couple of attacks will be boosted. You must be level 44 and have Web Envelope or Scorpion Shield before selecting this power.

yep I did read that, but it left it open to interpretation. It sounded like it could be dom like. I do like the dom mechanic where you power up a skill and unleash its hellbent wake. Maybe I'm just odd but it adds that feeling of... 'release the awesome' (10 points if you can name the movie reference without googling)

I'm not sure what you mean by "dom-like", but I'm going to assume you mean it's like their inherent power Domination and not referencing the power itself when used by a Dominator (Doms have access to Power Boost in a couple sets). Energy Manipulation, for Blasters, contains Power Boost. It's a click power that when used, boosts secondary effects. There is no "bar" fill; no obscure way to activate it. Consider it akin to using Build Up or Aim before you launch an attack, except your goal is to boost, say, the Hold Duration of a power or the Defense Boost of an armor shield.

I don't think Power Boost boosts the effects of Knockback anymore, though, so that should probably be updated.

Yes, Domination is what I'm referring to. It would be cool if Power Boost worked like that.
