Spines/Willpower build: Defense!
You are going to run of endurance very fast. Granted, this would be difficult to take down but having less than 1 end per second to use when you have quills on (and you want to have quills on) will drain your end bar in a hurry.
With S/L defense around 30 you are still quite difficult to take down and you can put in more slots into recovery and end redux. Granted you still will have issues every once in a while with -def debuffs.
I told you I'd take a look a this several days ago, Sonic Bang. Sorry it took me so long to get around to giving it the once over. That said, let's get right to it.
That said, the biggest problem I see with your build is end consumption. Your longevity in a fight is very compromised in this build. You only have 1.15 eps recovery after toggles (swapping SS for Quills). That gives you less recovery than a detoggled lvl1 to attack with (1.67 eps). (Since several of your AoEs have low end reduc, that only exasperates the problem.)
The simplest way to get more endurance would be to drop two powers (Resurgence and either CJ or Maneuvers) and pick up Stamina - even if it's only 1 slotted. That'd push your recovery to ~4 eps. (It'd net you 57% regen from Health to boot.)
If you did take Stamina, another option would be to drop two slots from SS and 3 slotting Stam with Perf Shifters. That'd be a net gain in maxhp and boost your recovery to ~4.18 eps. (I'd slot SS with either a lvl50 runspeed or a Micro, then move the +Stealth IO to Sprint.)
That would help curb your end consumption, but I expect you'd still have problems in the long run. (You'll have to keep SS shut off in combat.)
Also, you're giving up some significant heal enhancement in both HPT and FH, but I don't see anywhere to pull it from without sacrificing your two main build goals of +def and +rech. Try plugging that in and see how that looks to you.

Alright, in the time I've gotten my spines/WP to level 47, I've learned a few things.
1. Willpower does not take to great of alphas.
2. If you're going down, you can see it early.
3. Softcapped WP's are ridiculously strong (No, I'm not even going to use google to find out how to spell ridiculous).
So, I made a WP build that focused on defense (with modest recharge) and one that focused on HP (with modest recharge). The defense had softcap to smashing and lethal, making him nigh unkillable by S/L due to 50 res and 42 Defense. The HP build had about 60% more regen bonus, and about 27% more hp. I've heard that 27% hp is essentially 27 bonus resist to all. So I went with defense build because I love the ITF's and I love fighting bosses in MA.
Here is my build, focused on Defense and Recharge. I know spines doesnt exactly need alot of recharge so I didnt stress too much about it.
Anyone know how I can improve this build? Any obvious mistakes I have made? I really like the idea of this and it sounds alot more practical than focusing on regen or HP. Tear it up! Oh, and I'm straying away from purps except a few procs. Not buying PVP IO's due to the ridiculous prices.
