MA long versus short

Hello to all.

*waves*

I cruze the forums during downtime (so frequently lately...) and I was pondering something...
What does it really mean to have a long or a short mish?
I just made a mish that is 3 maps and used up nearly all my size allotment and it is listed as a "Long" mish, but I have been in several one map "Short" mish's that have taken 3 or 4 times as long as the one I made. Having a mish tagged as long may make people pass it up since many gamers are here, in, out, done. I think the parameters distinguishing a mish as long or short should involve what it might realistically take to complete all mission tasks. What do you think?

Oh, and by the way, the mish I made is for everyone who has been on a team with me and tried to steal my debt. 8D I hope it makes you laugh!

Remember that the 'size' is the file size for text and custom characters, not the 'size' of the maps or related things.

I believe that the 'length' of the mission arc is based on the ground territory of the maps you use, not on some analysis of the objectives. It could be but I'd be surprised. I've done some 'short' missions that took an hour because it was one objective just spawned another which spawned another.

I personally don't mind 'long' as long as I have the time for it. Most 'shorts' feel like jsut one catchy mission, but not a lot of story or RP.

I love the kitty pirate hon, lol.
Yeah, I guess that must be what they go by, but IDK *shrugs* , I guess I just hope people will take a moment to check mine out, but if they are weeding through for just the short ones, mine will get passed by. File size is not a true indication of the actual time a mission or series of missions will take. I guess I'm nieve and wish that there was a more comprehensive way of determining a real time value for stating the length of a mish.
I made mine so my buddies could laugh at me, while nodding their heads going, 'yeah that's Casa". LOL

The 'length' is based on how many missions are included in the arc, as far as I can tell. It might also take into consideration the size of the maps used, but a single mission arc is usually shown as 'short'. The time it takes to complete it has nothing to do with it's 'length'. File size has nothing to do with it, either.

According to Pohsyb in beta, it's the sum of the lengths of the maps, plus a little extra if you have a defeat all. It's an imperfect metric, but it's not a bad ballpark.

I love that mission. I'll have to check for the others.

The problem with this is that all Unique maps are considered to be very large, no matter if it's Atlas Park or The Midnight Club.

Yeah, I'm using unique maps. A small casino, small snake, and medium small office (one floor). So you think if I changed it to a "regular" map I could get the large designation out?
*aside* all these cute pics for peeps! I'll have to figure out how to do that.

Yep. My arc that uses the Dance Club and Infernal's Lair was listed as Long for the longest time, but now it says Medium. I think they might have changed how the formula works. But still, Infernal's lair is tiny compared to a lot of Oranbega maps, and the Dance Club is one of the smallest maps you could ever hope to see. Not sure how that makes it Long. Hell, Medium is pushing it.

I wouldn't call Infernal's Lair "tiny" but is certainly is not that much bigger than a Medium Oranbega map. It just feels so long because it's unwound into nearly a straight line.

Thank you, yes. I have three up there. I keep meaning to make more. People seem to enjoy them.

As for the unique missions, I think that during beta they were all considered map length 0. I guess that was changed, but I don't know how.
