I am looking for some advice on my build. I am not a big number's guy but can this be made better without getting into purple's for now. I capped defense's with some excess for debuff's and I think I did a decent job with the primary but really just would like one of you build guru's to check it out and see if it's up to snuff. was fine, couple of things though,

Siphon life could have been slotted better, bonuses are nice but not everything

Shadow punch will do you better than midnight grasp, with SP, smite and siphon life you ahve a full attack chain

anything over 45% def is a waste, you can free up slots from your passives

I moved some slots around and made tough worth turning on (if you can get those HOs, you could easily free up a few more slots to 6 slot it though for normal enhance

Not sure why you suggest skipping MG, it hits way too hard to skip IMO. On mine I have a seamless attack chain using MG, Smite, SL, and Boxing.

IF i remember right - and with enough slotting and gcr - the attack chain used just siphon life, midnight grasp and smite.

get shadow punch. skip shadow maul. once you start building for io's, drop shadow punch

i'd slot siphon life for healing early on. it can heal for quite a lot, and it does really good dmg base with just fury. it is however an end pig

Shadow Punch has a DPA of 55.
Midnight Grasp has a DPA of 85.

I'll let you decide which is better.

Shadow Maul is the only AE attack DM gets. It's also one of the best AE attacks in the game, with the only weakess being a target cap of 5.

The best attack chain for Brutes includes Gloom, MG, Smite and SL. I'm not sure what it looks like though.
