Transferring from PC to Mac

Right now, I am playing on a PC and I am seriously thinking about upgrading to a Mac. (I have just about had it with Vista!) I just have one question. I know I will probably need the Mac Edition of CoH but will I also need to remove the Windows version from my PlayNC account, and will doing so jeopardize my characters I've leveled on the PC version? I just want some answers before I decide once and for all to make the switch.

Just like running clients on multiple PCs, you can run the client on the Mac without worrying about your PC install. Of course, you can only be logged into your account from one computer, but that's true universally.

Just be sure to note that you will need to reinstall the VidiotMaps map pack (the Mac installer is on their website), your window and chat settings files will be at the default ones (though you can copy your old ones over if you know what you're doing, and I think Cuppa_Manga has a guide on that), and there is no Mac version of Mids or HeroStats.

At any rate, good luck, and Welcome to Macintosh.

No.

Just download the Mac Version from the NC Account page. The clients are interchangeable, you can use either, or both. You don't need to remove anything, just download the client, and login with your account info.

Just wanted to stress this.

If you have an existing account you do not need to buy anything at all to use the Mac client. The only reason to buy the mac edition box is if you want to get the valkyrie costume bits. and the mission door teleporter power.

That said you might want to poke around this forum a bit before deciding. The mac client has a few extra issues that the windows client doesn't have, so if playing CoH in OS X is a big deal for you, you should know what you're getting into. Nothing terrible, really...but there's some known issues.

And if you do switch and the mac client has issues for you, you can always use Boot Camp to dual boot a copy of windows along side OS X and run the native windows client.

Exactly. I use both the Windows and Mac version of CoH on the same machine (a Macbook Pro).
