Custom enemies + Flight
Yep. I have some in my Arc. They seem to work just fine. I haven't seen any glitchy bahavior from them at any rate.
Flying Custom Mobs are immune to immobilizing effects which is a real treat for players with lots of knockdown attacks.
Flying Mobs move faster which allow larger groups to be pulled together faster.
Flying Mobs are able to move within melee range even when you are surrounded by 14 other mobs and no space is available.
Flying Mobs Patrol Groups move faster and quickly get around obstacles.
Flying mobs can also be pulled into the air... which is real helpful if your character happens to be a flyer, and the mob's compatriots are groundlings.

Are you sure about that? My flying Energy/Rad defender regularly knocks flying customs out of the air.
I haven't published an arc with flying custom enemies yet, in part because my custom mobs only fly if they absolutely have to. If they can get where they want to go by running, they run. They only fly if there is no other way for them to reach their objective.
I would prefer another option for some of my custom critters: Always Fly. That way they'd always fly to their objective, and if they close to melee range they'd hover next to their target.
I agree. I have been able to hover out of reach of my custom mobs and destroy them, despite the fact they have Fly. I have never seen one of them actually fly.

Out of curiousity, which flight power are you using (the normal one or the forcefield) and what regular powers do they have? Also, indoor or outdoor?

-Fly and Immobilize are not the same thing, it just happens that several Immobilization powers also do -Fly (Web Grenade, Entangling Arrow). There are also several Immob powers that don't do -Fly (Chillbain, Fire Circle) and powers that do -Fly without Immob (Air Superiority, Glue Arrow).

I use both types.
Just indoors for now.
They have varied power sets.. I'd have to look at the specific creatures to tell you as I don't have my arc in front of me at the moment.
How exactly do the two Flight powers work on custom MA enemies? I'm contemplating some ideas of some things to experiment with but don't have the time to check for myself at the moment. Has anyone even SEEN custom enemies with flying abilities?
