Possible Art Forum Game - Any Takers?
I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. I'd join, but I'm kinda sucky with the costume creator. You guys blow me away.
Oh wait a minute you were not expecting me to actually be able to do a good costume now were you?
Yeah, come join the fun Wassy. It's not a contest. Think of it as an exercise in altitis.
Are we going to do this on the test server where we can create the costume, show it off and then delete? Might be fun to meet there on the deadline date with our created costumes for all to see, if we can all get together for it.

I think it'd be better/easier if we used Mission Architect to create and post our results. The reason being that if we were to create a level 1 character, we wouldn't have access to capes/auras and other goodies. But if folks used MA, they'd potentially have access to everything they could need/want.
Oh...well, if that's the case, then I'm going to bow out because I don't have anything unlocked in MA. I was just going to create level 1s with all their limitations.

You can create a level 1 character. No one's stopping you from doing it. But I'm going to use MA myself. In the long run it doesn't make a difference.
I'm pretty good with the costume creator, but I'm terrible when it comes to writing. I don't want to re-do the background of the character I get, because it will be far inferior to the original, simply based on my authoring ability.
Also, I don't have any of the booster packs. While we can all access the same content in game via the MA, not all of us have access to the same parts. Any way to handle that officially?

The Guide to BURN
I came back to the forum just in time: Count me in!
Sadly, MA is out for me, as all three of my slots are hosting arcs at the moment.
That is, unless we can show them off in Test Mode.

I think he means creating them in MA, then taking screen shots and posting here, like we would with our character references.

A agree with other posters who have suggested that nothing visual be exchanged. Seeing the original costume may affect the efforts of people during thier creating. Maybe keep it simple, character name, sex, AT powersets, and maybe a little background and/or personality traits.
I'm going to want to see the originals, personally.
So when we doing this? I got my first guy ready so any times good for me
People can provide the reference shots, you don't nec. HAVE to look at them. But they're available for those who want to.
And I'd like to see them once the game is over to compare.

when do we start this shindig

Thunder is good, thunder is impressive, but lightning does the work.
Tomorrow, at 9 pm eastern...behind the slurpie machine. Or that's the deadline at least, Bay will post the match-ups in a new thread on Thursday...or that's what he said.

This doesn't make any sense at all. If you don't have a basis with which to modify, then you can't make an outfit based on the original. This isn't a contest to make an entirely different outfit for an entirely different character. It's about parody, essentially, used in a manner to make an alternate version of the same character.
If someone makes a robotic armor, blonde haired, blue aura version of my character, it will not match in the *slightest* bit. It will not be visually recognizable as *my* character. Just another random character that someone on the forum made.
If this was about making interesting characters and costumes in general, then that would be fine. But this is about creating a new look for a pre-established char. That's tougher than just doing something random and that's why I'm interested in the first place.

Yup I agree we need to see the original costume as well as some short bio/characteristics/traits thing, probably the in game bio window if nothing else.
We'd need the original costumes as it is a reimagining an established character, so while the costume created may not look anything like it, like even some of Stan's reimaginations weren't, many were similar.
In a sense we're doing something in the same line along Ultimate-izing our characters.

[/ QUOTE ]Do what I do when I want to experiment with stuff my character doesn't have yet. Go into one of your arcs, if you have one with a custom character, and edit that character. Snap screenies at the costume creations screen and then back out without saving to the arc.
Should i post my guy now???
Well if not i still will because i want to
Rainbow Jester, he is a jester who wears a rainbow costume and has a pink afro and has pink sparkles... Now time for bio hmm....
GOT IT! He likes to dance and kicks people using martial arts.
Now can we start this already
Hehe. I was thinking of just engineering a three way trade. This sort of game could become a regular thing.
I suppose now would be a good time to discuss how much information should be exchanged. I think there needs to be a central core or idea that can't be altered in anyway. The end character should be identifiable as a "reboot" of the original idea. Thoughts?
