Hey all Im new to using a scrapper in pvp and am trying to respec my lvl 45 DB/Regen so that he can be effective in PVP when I get him to 50. So here are some questions I have.

1. Should I skip stamina since I have QR? By doing so I could free up a pool and three powers.
2. Do I need Super speed and super jump or is Superspeed alone ok?
3. Is MOG worth taking or should I skip it? Ive heard that it is totally situational and it isnt worth taking in PVP, but I don't know.
4. Should I concern myself with taking a hold power like petrifying gaze, web grenade or intimidate?
5. Should I take tactics instead of Focused Accuracy since tactics allows you too see invisible toons? I've never actually used tactics so I dont know how good it is.
6. Is the fighting power pool worth taking? Ive read that tough and weave work well with regen builds.
7. Can I skip the speed power pool altogether and get by without Hasten since IO'S add recharge time to powers?

Thanks for any and all advice.

I think what he meant by "DB" is, DB just isn't made for pvp. BS or Spines ftw. However, if you can make DB work, hasten on a regen scrapper is must, FA + tactics could be useful, MOG is very useful to me, my BS scrapper has WEbnade because he is totally melee. Hope that helps.

Yeah Ive heard dual blades isnt great for PVP, but does it totally suck, or can it work? If by taking tactics and Focused Accuracy, Id have to lose something. Is Jumping dropable?

its probably better than claws. DB has build up right?

Does DB Have Build Up?

It has a build up type power, but you must hit someone with it for it to work.

So any other advice folks?

If you are looking to just be an okay scrapper and not like the top solo duelist, then DB should be okay with a few procs. Also, jumping is not droppable.

If you're going that route, then good luck. I'd grab MoG, build for +HP and Recharge, and pray.

Also, SJ isn't absolutely necessary, you can get away with just SS and CJ.

Feel like a noob here, but I have to ask, what are procs?

Procs are IO's that have a % chance of doing something every time the power is used. Specifically they meant damage procs.

DB is pretty horrible. It does have one really good attack...the thousand cuts or whatever. But it has no BU, which is a huge deal, and the BU power it has just doesn't cut it.

But at least you're better off than claws. I have a claws/regen I used to play regularly. Haven't touched him ONCE since I13, where he was made into an even bigger joke than ever before.

Lol....How shiitty was the movie?
In all seriousness though, I don't understand why everyone says that DB sucks for PVP because of not having a BU. Im not saying that everyone is wrong only that I don't get it. I guess my questions is that if BU gives a %100 damage buff and ablating strike the DB Version of BU gives a %35 bonus I can understand why people say its gimped, plus you have to hit with ablating strike. But the recharge for DB is much faster so you can always have that %35 going while the recharge on BU is much longer. Anyway, my question is if DB sucks because its not getting the same kind of burst damage?

Yep, burst is all PvP is about for the most part, unless you're a lol, fight clubber.

Another problem with the strike power (just like claws), is the tohit. BU gives a significant tohit boost, so you can hit defense builds. But with the strike, if you can't land it to start your attack chain, not only are you doing less damage than expected, you're also likely to miss your next attacks as well. Basically BU is guaranteed, while the others are not, and that gives other sets a big advantage over DB and clawls. At least DB's damage is noticeable. Claws damage is just.....bad.
