Is DB/WP viable?

I'm a returning CoX player from a couple years ago, so I have missed ALOT! The last time I played was shortly after the release of CoV.

When I originally played I had a BS/Regen Scrapper but since I've seen the new content release of Duel Blade and Will Power I have been extatic! This will allow me to make the hero exactly how I always wanted to!!!

However I am an AVID (emphasis on avid plz) PVPer. Common sense tells me anyone with mobility, control, and range attacks obviously have the advantage in this game. What I want to know is if I go DB/WP, will I have any chance in PVP what so ever.

I really love PVP and I hope there are some options that can allow me to catch foes in melee. Teleport foe or web grenade, I'm not totally sure what I can do to make this work. Or am I going completley the wrong direction and this build is strictly PVE?

DB is the worst choice of pvp attacks for any pvp melee character. By the time you're done animating 1 attack, you've already been hit by 2.

DB is strictly PvE oriented.

I don't PvP a lot, or at all, even, but the DB animation times are in general not too long. The first three powers have 1 second animation times; only Typhoon's Edge, Vengeful Slice, and 1000000000000000000000 Cuts have animations longer than 2 seconds. It animates as fast as any scrapper set, really.

Of course, combos are next to useless, so there is that. And PvP doesn't really play to WPs strengths, from what I've seen.

I've generally gotten thrashed in PvP. But there's a pretty good chance that has a lot more to do with my skills (or lack thereof) rather than the powersets.

DB/WP will do fine against the fiteklubbers and bad zone PvPers. Against someone that knows what they're doing? No.

DB's heaviest hitters take a day and a half to animate, the combo system doesn't work well against targets you have to chase down, and RttC, which is a decent portion of your survivability as a WP, detoggles when you get mezzed.

DB/WP rocks for PvE. In fact, my first lvl 50 was a DB/WP scrapper. I couldn't tell you how well it is for PvP though.

So why exactly did you post?

Well Depends on the slotting.... and the build....and Luck......I PvP on Virtue(yeah yeah lolvirtue) with a DB/WP. I have surprised a lot of people(Never more then once though ) And while there is no way in Hell I would advise anyone else to waste the time I have building him for PvP'n....FightClub Sessions can be very Fun espcially against Other DBs. Nothing looks Kewler then a Duel between DBs.

I Keep sending in the suggestion that the Combos should be at least doubled or Tripled in there effects in PvP because lets face it if ya can hit someone 3 straight times before the timer runs out..While there running from you..Threw all the Def and Debuffs....I think you deserve the most Dmging or DeBuffing affect in the Game to reward ya.

But the Ultimate Answer is SImply...No : (

My first stalker was a DB one, an I'm a PvP enthusiast. This my mileage with DB: I tried builds. Used Mid's for combinations of Sets. Asked every forum-active PvP'ers who liked Stalkers. And did [/b]a lot[/b] of Siren's Call.

My odissey with DB rendered a nice guide at least, which is on my sig; I did put most PvP insights for the set there. I really tried to get the most out of it PvP-wise.

But short answer: it's very frustrating, limiting, a lot more hard and unpleasant than, say, Spines or Energy.

I seriously wish to know how the devs got to the conclusion that an imaginary energy form is so much more hurting than being stabbed in the belly, but, yeah.

Lipe82, I really appreciate the link and some honest feedback that actually has some support. I guess when I look at it, if Im doing DB, it is because I want to and nothing else.
